Be persistent and follow-up after you've filled out an application or sent your resume. Call the recruiter every other week to check your status. If possible, try to find a manager's name & contact info and introduce yourself.
Be open to all kinds of positions even though it's not your dream job. Have you tried nursing homes? long term care? private offices? clinics? Also, look for healthcare recruiting agencies (most of the time they want experience nurses but flu season will start soon and you may get a flu shot job)... although it's a temporary job, at least you're doing something with your license.
Have you tried volunteering at a hospital? If you have the money to spend, you can go ahead and advance yourself by taking ACLS, IV therapy, PALS, NRP... depending on what your interest is. Also, you may look into joining associations like american nurses association, med-surg association.... etc depending on your interest.
I graduated last year and I never gave up job hunting. Don't give up! Good luck :)

Thanks for your encouragement! I applied for an online BSN program and hopefully will be volunteering at Lutheran Med Center. Do you happen to have any info in regards of ACLS, IV Therapy and the other suggested courses? Also I tried joining the ANA online and it seemed complicated.. I will try again though. Thanks again for your message.

It's not totally *you*, just your hard luck to have graduated and entered a job market for RNs in NYC that is in flux.
Proper title for your post might have been "Hospitals shortage in NYC" *LOL*
As you probably already know several hospitals have closed in the NYC within the past year. This has thrown a large number of experienced RNs out onto the job market. Between Victory Memorial, Mary Immaculate, St. Johns, St. Vincent's Manattan, and North General, you've got quite allot of nurses looking for work, all this with local nursing programs not letting up in churning out new grads every six or twelve months.
The current economic upheaval and worries over "Obamacare", not to mention federal cutbacks in Medicare/Medicaid funds have had hospitals hunkering down, and not really hiring except where required.
