RN LTC 3rd shift payrate

Published

Anyone know base payrate for RN's on 3rd shift in LTC facility? Desperate to know - Thanks

What city and state are you in. It varies nationally.

Where I am from they don't pay a penny more for 3rd shift than 1st or 2nd. In fact, the DON says if anyone deserves a shift differential it is the 1st shift because they work the hardest...that might change if some people would flat out refuse to work nights, but for know she has it her way.

Gee, way to be respectful of all your staff. That DON needs a firm bonk on the head. Nights work just as hard as days. It's a different kind of busy, and they do it with less staff and less support. Maybe she needs to work a couple of night shifts.

Yep....no difference in rates in my LTC. Most faciliies in my area pay more for 3-11 nurses not 11-7

That's so true. But nights is the only shift I'll work - in our LTC facility, I truly do think our day nurse gets dumped on big time. Anything that the DON doesn't want to do, she dumps on her. At least I don't have to put up with that.

But at night there's just me and 1 CNA for 40 people, so I end up doing a lot of physical stuff that the other nurses don't do - sometimes to the detriment of nursing work.
