i am going to try this for the first time. I need some info. i am a german citizen living in the us since the past 10 years. I got my RN in florida, i work as an RN here, i want to go back to germany and work as an RN there in a civilian hospital, yes i do speak, write and read the language, but i am not registered there as an RN, does anyone know if i can work as an RN there? I am not talking about on post for the miltiary, iam talking about the civilian sector. please help if you can.

You need to contact the health authorities in the Bundesland where you want to work to find out if they accept your US training and what tests or papers they need. Normally you will have to have the same amount of hours in theory and practical nursing...
I would assume it's a tedious process, you need translations of everything as well. But phone them to find out.
well, i used to live in bayern, i am not sure should i contact unterfranken or bayern, the other thing is i thought to contact the arbeitsamt and see what the requirements are, they should know. i hope>

the arbeitsamt will not know what the requirements are, only the regional board/ regierungspräsidium can verify your educational transcripts, they will decide about your education´s equivalency. you will have to contact them, depending on the town where you want to settle.

i want to go to schweinfurt, i might contact the regierung in unterfranken, wuerzburg. i hope they can help me.
thanks, somebody asked me why i don't work for the army in schweinfurt, but i am not an american citizen so i don't even know if i can work for them, nor am i married to a mititary member.

you need to contact the ''Regierung von Oberbayern", I was an RN in FL as well, and I just put all my papers in. You need everything translated = $$$$$. It takes about 2 months. The contact person is Schropp.
