CRNA, green card, please advise fast!
Guys, thank you for your reply. I do not have a green card, that is my whole problem. I have a student visa, I have two weeks to decide to take the spot in the CRNA program. I called a few employers last week and they all told me that they are not sure, but probably they will not be willing to go through the paperwork because for them it is just easier to hire a US citizen or a permanent resident.

International student and hospital sponsorship
Hi Silver Dragon, thank you for your reply. This is too much risk. CRNA is US only, in Italy or in the whole EU Anesthesia is administered by MDs only. Very likely I will have to give up my spot. In all honesty my American Dream is dead. I spent 10 years in the coutry, I have 2 University degrees, I just do not feel to invest 150,00 USD without knowing that I can practice what I learned. This is just too bad. I wanted to be a CRNA for a long, long time and I would be very good at it. 300 applicants for 30 spots...I got one... and I have to give it up. Well....life is good ! so cheers, and thanks for the info.

International student and hospital sponsorship
Hi and thank you!, well...I am not chinese or indian, I am from Italy. So yes, E2 is current and I do not see it going into retrogression (it never has). But I am scared! this is a 150k dollar investment, and if I cannot find an employer who will provide an H1b and then a green card I am screwed! I am trying to contact potential employer to test their reaction, but so far I only talked to a large employer in FL and they did not think they would do that for me since there are plenty of American for the job. One part of me says go!, I mean if a CRNA cannot get an H1b who can? Another part of me says, you are crazy, spend 150k dollars without knowing if I will be able to stay! Gosh I don't know what to do! I have 2 weeks to decide to accept the position or not! Also, I do not know if I would qualify for the OPT since I have taken OPT once as an RN. But CRNA is very different than RN, so I believe I still qualify. Thank you for your replies.

International student and hospital sponsorship
Hi, I am the exception. I graduated as an RN in 08, worked in a CICU for 11.5 months using my OPT, then went home, got one more year of ICU. Took the GRE, scored 1310, flew to Miami for an Interview and got in. So it is not impossible, just very difficult. Now I have a question, what will the chances of getting a green card as a CRNA? will I be able to get another OPT year since CRNA is different than RN? Thank you for your advise, I have two weeks to accept my spot. Thanks

CRNA, green card, please advise fast!
Hi, I just got accepted to FIU. But I am a foreign student. I have 2 weeks to decide to take the spot. I am concerned because the job market has become tight, and I do not if hospitals will be willing to sponsor my green card. Please advise!

GRE Help
Hi, I scored 1310 on the GRE, I practiced and Practiced until I rocked it. You can improve the english part a little, mostly by test taking techniques. The math can be improved greatly. Just learn how to solve problems first, then work on your speed. Problems are always the same, they just look different. Never make long calculations, it if you find yourself making long calculations you are approaching the problem wrong. Take longer for the first problems, you got to get them right so that you get high in the score bracket, then accelerate the pace to finish the test. If you cannot get a problem right, guess, not wild guess, and educated guess, but do not spend too much time on problems that you might not be able to get right. Good luck to you, just work hard and believe in it.

Any NIGERIAN SRNA(s) or CRNA(s) here?
Hi guys, I am not nigerian but I am also not American following the American Dream. I wanted to ask you something. I just got accepted to FIU in Miami, it is like a dream for me. However I am very scared of not getting a green card after graduation since school costs so much money and if I cannot work in the US it will be a tragedy. What are my chances to get a green card once I graduate?? thank you! Bless you.

Looking for RN job in BC - Please help
I hate this recession, and the sad thing is that is gonna last! I have been away from bed side now for a year, fortunatelly I have a job doing clinical research that pays well, but I am loosing all my skills. I am stuck in Germany with no german license, I have a FL and a BC license that I cannot use. Very depressing. I studied my tail off for my RN degree and if I will stay away from bed side for a few more years I will be pretty much worthless!

I'm trying to apply for CRNBC registration
Hi susanne, I have noticed that you know a lot about Canadian Licencing and employment. I have an ADN from the US + 1 year of CICU in FL, I applied for the CRNE in Canada. On the phone they told me that BC stll accepts ADNs, but each case is different. I will have my answer from CRNBC in 4 weeks. I would appreciate if you could answer two questions: 1) What are the chances to be allowed to sit for the CRNE? 2) If I am approved to sit for the CRNE what is the job outlook in the Vancouver and Victoria area? Thank you in advance for your kind reply.

US Nursing student needs help in Canada.
First of all, once you become a permanent resident of Canada there are some stipulations, i.e. you can stay a permanent resident if you live in Canada for at least a certain time period. So, make sure that you do not overstep the boundaries and loose your PR. Second, if you want to live in Ontario, the College of Registered Nurses of Ontario, or the RN governing body, offers a bridge program for ADNs, just contact them and ask them about it. In my opinion, if you can stay in the US and not loose Canadian PR rights, you are better off getting an ADN, work as an RN under OPT and get in the meanwhile an RN to BSN. If the retrogression is not lifted by the end of your opt, and it probably won't, then you can go to Canada with a BSN and experience!
