RN-BSN online program advice please!

Published

Hey Everyone,

I've been doing hours and hours of research on RN-BSN online programs. I've narrowed it down to Grand Canyon University, Chamberlain University, University of Texas Arlington or American Sentinel. I am still compiling info on these colleges...pretty much have all the info on GCU. Can anyone tell me first hand experiences with any of these programs or maybe something you've heard from a colleague? Any advice or tips are appreciated. TIA!

I've moved your post over to the Distance Learning forum. There are a lot of posts in this forum about online programs.

Personally, I did Chamberlain's RN-BSN online and loved it -- lots of paper writing, etc., but I learned a lot from it and enjoyed interacting with other students online. It's expensive, though. I had a lot of reimbursement from my employer as well as a scholarship to offset the costs.

Just in case you weren't aware, the only one on your list that isn't an expensive for-profit is UTA. And I'd personally go with UTA simply on that fact. Why pay double or triple per credit for the same classes you can take at a state university?

I have been researching Online colleges as well for over the past month, I finally narrowed my search to Chamberlain, ASU (Arizona State University) and Liberty University. I was looking for a school without clinicals and group projects. I am now 99% sure I'm going with Chamberlain starting next week. I have a co-worker who just finished with Chamberlain and was happy with them. Chamberlain is expensive which will be a deciding factor for me but I'm finding with the cheaper schools, they require more credits and the cost comes out to be about the same. Good Luck!

I would personally check out the state school and save money. I'm enrolled in a state school online rn-bsn program and my bill this semester was $1200 and its the number 1 nursing program in my state. Best of luck to you and good for you for continuing your education!

Im currently attending ASU(American Sentinel) and they are great. Good instructors, good interaction with peers and tuition is not bad, I think its about 12k total for tuition of 10 BSN classes. There is a lot of papers to write as well as discussion board posts but no exams. I am learning a ton and its been very manageable with a full time job. Before anyone else comes on here and says it, They are not Regionally accredited but they are ccne accredited and that was good enough for what my future career holds for me. I am a 40 year old RN with 16 years of bedside nursing and I got 10 more years until I retire from full time nursing. A BSN is all I need to fulfill my goals at retirement.

I am also attending American Sentinel Rn-BSN program. I have no desire to get a msn. I am glad u like it. Email me and we can chat [email protected]
