35 years in nursing. I know, dinosaur. :)
Been in research the past 8-10, and I need to change directions as I can't fly as much as I was in that career path.
Due to my health, I have not been able to work for the past year, but am now able to get back to work and beyond the able to, but have to, whether I can do it comfortably or not.
How do I get someone to hire me? I have kept an active license, CEUs, more inept on the CRAZY in healthcare, etc.....seriously, reading, writing a business plan for my private patient advocacy business I will start, but need to get some money coming in.
I have done some home care, but not on the OASIS software.
I have really felt that employers think you forget how to care for a patient. After 35 years? And the last year, I have been the patient, which now, trust me, makes me an expert. I see so many areas an advocate could be used.
How do I sell myself for employment? I just can't seem to come up with the right answer for a potential manager. But have stayed so current on so many things. And obtaining a certification is not in financial plan right now.
Would love and appreciate some suggestions. Relocating would be great too.
Many thanks and have a great week.

Sounds like you would be amazing as a case manager. Start looking around at different home health agencies. There are many nurses who go into home health who need to be trained on the computer software. Not every EMR is the same, therefore, it is part of orientation.
And I would sell the focus of my CEU's since not working.
Best wishes!

Just apply. Get a good cover letter base and tailor it to each job applied to. Explain lapse in employment as illness no details

Thread moved to Nursing Career Advice where you should get more response.
You are NOT a dinosaur. You possess a valuable asset.......knowledge and experience.
Good luck with search for the right fit for you.
