RN badge

I just have a question, I'm a RN Care Manager at our Community base clinic/university. ID badges provided are of very poor quality and do not have our credentials. 3-4 months from my hired date I notice the face on the badge was fading. Now 2 yrs into my employment my face is almost unrecognizable. I expressed my concerns to the department who provides badges and was told "yes, badges are of poor quality" if I would like a new one I would have to pay $20.00 for a replacement. My concern is not the $20.00 payment but the poor quality of the badge and its reflection of our Medical University. Also, as a Care Manager our policy states we are not allowed to wear scrubs our attire is business casual which makes it more difficult. Any suggestions.

I think it's pretty pathetic that they expect(ed) YOU to pay for a new badge.

Eh, my badge faded away because my thumb print wore it away when I would hold it to hand to the cashier to swipe for lunch. I pointed that out one day and the charge made me get a new one through security.

However, is it credential or titles? Usually in our work place, they can mean two different things. Credentials usually include licenses, degrees, and other stuff like certifications. Like my badge (with my misspelled name) has RN. Some have department like Nursing Services or Acute Care, Emergency Services. One just says Emergency. Weird.

a few of the places I've worked would make you a new badge if it was fading or the laminate was curling off. They only made you pay for it if you lost it and it was only like $5 or something. Paying for it was a sure way to find the old one under the seat of the car or something. I've paid for several badges over the years...lol.

OP:

Jus tell them you don't need no stinkin' badges!
