RN ADN Prereq.

Has anyone taken AP 1 and 2 in the same semester at NCTC Corinth? Also if you have taken Chem 1413 for health sciences would you recommend doing this in the same semester as AP 1 and 2? In other words, would any of you recommend taking all four of the RN ADN prereqs. in the same semester? Thank you for your advice in advance!!

I can't comment on that particular school, but I took A&P1 and A&P2 at my college during the same semester and I did fine. I would not want to do Chem, A&P1, and A&P2 all together, though.

It would basically be insane to take Chem, AP I, AP II, and stats all in the same semester. However after reviewing the NCTC catalog successful completion of AP I is a prereq to taking AP II so the college will more than likely not allow you to take both in the same semester.

Just my perspective. If you are going to get into a school in DFW then you need to make A's in all of those Pre-req classes. The specs on the programs tell you that you can have a 3.0..seriously though, they have to say that. They start with 4.0's fill spots and so you can see that by the time they get to 3.0 there are few spots left.

Most important, you need to actually study in a way that you remember the material; especially those A&P's because you use them every single day of nursing school. So, I think it would be detrimental in the long run to try and cram stuff in your brain, pray you make an A etc than to just take your time about it on the front side.

Best of Luck to you on your journey...

I don't know about that school, but like someone said above you need to not only remember this stuff because it will help you tremendously while in the program and while working, but you need a high GPA to compete with all the other applicants to the nursing program. Also, do you mean taking AP1 and AP2 at the same time or are they mini-semesters? There are things you will learn in AP1 that you will need to know before going on to AP2, I don't see how it could even be possible to take them at the same time. At my school you have to pass 1 before you go to 2.

At my school, A&P1 focused on certain body systems while A&P2 focused on the other. I took them both during the same semester and in the beginning, I was learning the same things in both classes (basic types of cells, components of a cell, functions of organelles, etc) and later we branched off into, for example, the lymphatic system in A&P2 and the neurological system in A&P1.

At my school A and P 1 is a pre-req for A and P 2.

Again, thank you all for your valued input! One more question, how much algebra knowledge is required for both Chemistry for Health Sciences and the Elementary Statistics classes?

Again, dunno if it is relevant to your particular college, but I took Stats after Algebra and I don't feel like Algebra was at all necessary for Statistics.

Whew, algebra is not my favorite subject. Many thanks! :)
