Hi there, first post from me.

I am a UK trained RMN and my fiancée is a UK trained RGN or RNA. We’re considering moving to Canada in a few years. Am I right in thinking she will be immediately able to work anywhere in Canada, whereas I would only be able to work in the four western provinces? Would either of us need to do any conversion of qualifications?

Also, I am currently considering doing a Masters Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice. In the UK this would allow me to work as a Consultant Nurse/ Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Would doing this be of any benefit to being able to practise in other provinces or would I still have to complete a conversion course?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Until she has registration sorted and a lot will depend on transcripts and clinical and theory hours then no she can’t work anywhere in Canada. If she meets all requirements including passing NCLEX then yes she can work anywhere as long as she has a license issued for that province. You are however restricted to the provinces that accept RMN so will limit where you can work again as long as you meet provincial requirements. Working as a NP would also depend on requirements of the province so you might want to see what is on the College of RN website for the province
