Riverside School of Health Careers RN program

Published

Hello everyone!

I am looking for current, past, and even prospective students for Riverside's RN program. I will be applying for the September 2013 professional nursing program. For current or past students, what was your GPA and teas score? Also how was the program, instructors, clinicals? I did attend the last open house in December and I was hoping that a student or recent grad would be there to talk about their experience. I love how the instructors seem to be really supportive and the small campus also appealed to me. To other prospective students what start date are you applying to and do you have any other nursing/healthcare experience? Any advice or other information on the program is greatly appreciated!

Oh and yes, tuition is due around mid February. I met with one of the financial aid coordinators and she told me that!

Good to know everyone is getting prepared! I'm just as excited for orientation! I've been in the process of doing the new student orientation checklist for online and signed up for a CPR class next weekend. The biggest thing I have to do is finish getting my immunizations....I'm not sure how we are supposed to get a TB skin test during the nationwide shortage....

Yeah, I've had my titers checked about 3 years ago. But guess I'll be doing that again. I also had by hep B series as well.. But it's all good time. I guess I'll find out Saturday morning about the TB test, should be interesting especially since it seems we need to be tested twice. If I'm reading that correctly. I've done the online stuff. I'm planning a trip to the uniform store in the next week or so. Just trying to decide on what shoes would be most comfortable for me to get is my biggest dilemma. :-)

I feel so behind! Lol I just paid my money and turned in my forms and CPR card today but tomorrow I have to go back up there and get my second set of paper work because Mrs. W wasn't there today. I'm so excited for everything lol

I called the school in regards to the TB test shortage and what they are accepting in lieu of. They said either the QFT test or the T-spot which are both blood test. Patient first doesn't do either. I called the Health Dept., they do the T-spot. It's $90 for the test.

I just got tested in July so I have to get the second test done now.

Is everyone getting the hepatitis vaccine?

I already got my Hep B series, but am getting my titer checked to see if I have immunity to it.

I dug out my old immunization records and I got the series back in 1997 but I'm not sure if it's still valid because I know for some vaccines you have to get them again once you reach adulthood, so I'll probably get that titer checked too.

I believe for any immunizations, if you've had them then you don't need to get a titer drawn. The only immunization on that list that you have to get done periodically is the tetorifice one (every 10 years).

This is true!

I was under the impression that sometimes you're immunization you get as a child have been known to run low therefore you end up needing a booster.

Only some immunizations require a booster. I had the hep b series as well as a baby and they took that for me
