Hello everyone!
I am looking for current, past, and even prospective students for Riverside's RN program. I will be applying for the September 2013 professional nursing program. For current or past students, what was your GPA and teas score? Also how was the program, instructors, clinicals? I did attend the last open house in December and I was hoping that a student or recent grad would be there to talk about their experience. I love how the instructors seem to be really supportive and the small campus also appealed to me. To other prospective students what start date are you applying to and do you have any other nursing/healthcare experience? Any advice or other information on the program is greatly appreciated!
But for sentara, they only look at the 6 main prereqs. You're probably totaling up your gpa of those 6 main classes & that's not how they do it. I asked myself when I went for the appointment. She said they look at the teas.which is like the "heavy component" followed by those classes. I'm pretty sure you'll make it.
No problem! Plus, I actually PM'ed someone who's in the program now. She said she got an 82 & 83 on her Teas also she had a 3.5 gpa but that was her gpa of her overall prereqs, before sentara switched it up. I remember it being that u needed everything completed before applying to sentara. So you're good to go! :)
I was just about to post, "Is it July yet?" lol. I have been so anxious to find out if I'll be selected that I've actually been doubting myself lately . Then when I snap out of that funk, I start stressing about financial stuff that I'll have to deal with if accepted. As far as tuition is concerned, based on my EFC and the amount of Pell grant and fed loans I have left, I should be just fine. I know the criminal background is $30 and a $250 tuition deposit which is applied to the first term, both would be due soon after gaining acceptance. Now the shots/titers along with the physical is what worries me. I dropped my health insurance through work last year for various reasons and I have no pcp. Also, I wonder if we have to have a drug screening, last time I had one in 09 for school, it was an extra 40-50 bucks in addition to the $70 for my physical. And I wonder if we purchase all of our books at once or just the ones we will be using for that term. My mom keeps telling me to save what I can and the Lord will make a way but I can't help but be a worrywart! I guess I'll be sending out an email to the recruiter this week. :-)
I totally know what you mean! I've worried about the financial stuff a lot, but I know there will be a way. I can't wait to know! Everything is gonna workout for you Kelly :) I emailed the recruiter on Friday and he said that there was a lot of interviews during the last week so he thinks all the programs are getting to the selection process and the beginning of July sounds about right. I wish it was closer to then, even though I know the weeks will fly. Gosh I am going to be so excited if I am accepted to a program! I can't wait to get the books and the uniforms and everything. I feel like books should be purchased by term but I don't know, just makes more sense to me. Are you CPR certified? I'm not, so I'll have a lot to get done if I am accepted.
Yes I am CPR certified, since I'm a dental assistant work pays for us to re-certify. The lady that did our last class lives in Va beach, she is pretty awesome and charges $50. As soon as I find her business card I'll send you her info. These weeks should definitely fly by, I work at a pediatric dental office and the kids are out on summer break and our schedules are packed already. I will have quite a bit to get done as well if I'm accepted, including getting my little one into a quality daycare!
