Riverside School of Health Careers RN program

Published

Hello everyone!

I am looking for current, past, and even prospective students for Riverside's RN program. I will be applying for the September 2013 professional nursing program. For current or past students, what was your GPA and teas score? Also how was the program, instructors, clinicals? I did attend the last open house in December and I was hoping that a student or recent grad would be there to talk about their experience. I love how the instructors seem to be really supportive and the small campus also appealed to me. To other prospective students what start date are you applying to and do you have any other nursing/healthcare experience? Any advice or other information on the program is greatly appreciated!

Well they definitely should! Especially since tuition is SO high than all these other programs in hampton roads!

Yeah! I feel like one day it will happen, I just don't know how soon. They do have the concurrent enrollment program with ODU though

Yea, I noticed that on the website and talked with the recruiter about that concurrent enrollment with ODU. Too bad I just have an Associates and not a Bachelors. :-(. I have limited financial aid thanks to being young and dumb :-/. I had to pay out of pocket for the pre-reqs that I had left so that I could save the financial aid I have left for school, so that was a big determining factor for applying to Riverside. Also, I've heard such good things about their program. Besides, they will pay for my BSN if I work for them for a certain amount of time, that way I can work as an RN while obtaining my BSN! I know it's pricey but it is the perfect fit for me. :-). I pray it is my time to start my nursing journey.

I couldn't have said that any better!

Yea I feel what you're saying, I just have 2years and some months left with grants. luckily, I'm just about done with prereqs once fall semester is over. I'm not too sure if I wanna go to riverside but I might take a semester off & apply to programs when spring starts just so I can save my grants. It sucks it has to be this way but, I know something good will come out of it.

Yes ma'am it will work out for you! And if I had as much left with grants I'd definitely would go the BSN route.

Hi ladies, I saw a couple of you have been through the interview already? What was it like? Did they ask a lot of questions? Was it more going over TEAS scores?

I responded to your post not too long ago. :) But to add to that, she did not go over my TEAS scores with me during my interview.

kelzfuturenurse, I got your post, thank you!

My GPA is 3.2 and I got a 70something on the TEAS. I didn't do so hot on it, I actually was thinking that that was the worst test I've ever taken :/ But I still got call for an interview so that's good. I actually have my interview tomorrow at 10:30 and I'm super nervous! I'm trying to prepare myself for what type of questions they'll ask (like why do you want to be a nurse, what are your best/ worst traits, why did you pick this school, etc)

Oh and I took the TEAS about 2 weeks ago

You are welcome hun! It's funny you say it was "the worst test you have ever taken" because those where my thoughts. But then I reminded myself that some people were unable to pass the test, so I'm proud of my 75.3! Now, if I'm not selected for September, will I retake the test? Absolutely, lol. However, with my circumstances and the amount of time I studied (a couple of weeks), I did the best I could do. Anywho, back to the interview, I think you will do fine. You are pretty much on the money with the questions. Did u take your TEAS after May 28th? We have been trying to figure out how many more test dates there are for this applicant pool. She told me after my interview that her goal is to have letters sent out by the beginning of July. My hope is that maybe that date will be bumped up and we'll be notified sooner!

Oh and I took the TEAS about 2 weeks ago

Oh ok, we may have taken it the same day! Just thought you may have taken it after me.
