Riverside Community Collge RN Spring 2015

Published

Hello I wanted to start a thread for RCC Nursing Spring 2015!!!!! Anyone that will be applying to the program for spring 2015 lets get together to chat and support each other through this process!!!!! Good Luck everyone!!! Hope to see u guys in class next spring!!!:)

I don't remember much chem lol. Those classes were so long ago and I've taken so many classes since then. But I'm sure they will review. Plus we have so many resources available if we get stuck. I've been out of school since June, it's going to be hard to get back in the grind of studying all the time. Hey do you guys know if the program goes through the summer? Or do we have it off?

I took chem back in 1998!!! I took organic and bio chem in 2011. I will be needing a refresher lol!

If you want to practice on your math and learn dosage calculations a good book is Math for Nurses a Pocket Guide to Dosage Calculation and drug preparation. It's only about 16 bucks used. I got a good used one. I have not looked at it yet because of studying for the TEAS and my math class.

Hi everyone! :cat: I keep worrying about not getting accepted :nailbiting: but it's good to know that having 80+ points ensures for a better chance of getting in the program. If I calculated correctly, I believe I have at least 95 points. I was initially planning on going for the BSN program at LLMU or CSUSB but ultimately decided that the cost of those programs would be too much of a burden on my family. I actually took the TEAS last year at CSUSB when I was planning to go there instead and I am glad to have it behind me now. I definitely remember the stress of having to take such an important test and I felt nervous with all of you when you all took it last month! I am crossing my fingers that we all get accepted!! December can't come fast enough!!!!! In the meanwhile, I am making sure to get as much sleep as possible because I know rest and relaxation will become foreign concepts to us once we start!!!!

Well Ann you are the first person I have ever heard of having 95 points. You should be at the top of the line for acceptance. I am hoping that you are the only one with 95 points because that makes the cut off much higher for our application pool. Well now S. is saying that we know up to Mid December. Your post worries me now because I only have 75 points. Maybe that's why this thread is so slow because people know they have a lot of points and they are confidant they will get in. Your gonna get in with 95 points. If I had 95 points I would not be worrying.

Hey Queen did you get the book from amazon?

I would not be worrying Anne 95 point is excellent. You put the rest of us to shame Lol. With your points I'm sure you could have got in anywhere. Financially you made a good choice because community colleges are way cheaper. Plus you can always continue your education while your working as a RN. Haha...Queen I was thinking the same thing about Anne being the only one with 95 points. I also had a feeling they'd move the date on us. From what I've read from past post they usually send out emails mid December. What a bummer I'm tired of waiting. Is anyone applying for financial aide? I wonder if I should apply now or wait until I know for sure if I get in.

Yes Mindy my dear. I got it on Amazon used.

He says try not to worry so much then tells me it will up to mid December when we find out. LoL. Yea right. I think there was only one more gal on this thread that had 75 points. The rest of you have 80 and above. I was looking at Spring 14 and a lot of them got in with 75 points. If I were younger and had money I would go for my BSN. I am thinking the young ones have the high points. They have more options too, like time on their hands LoL. I worked for many years as an LVN. I wish I would have went to school sooner, but I was busy as a single mom working to take care of my boys. I have been going to school seems like forever. Getting my RN will mean my freedom and Independence. I was a very good LVN so I know I will be a great RN. I made us a waiting song named Purdy Please LoL. Come on let's sing along... It's our waiting song...

"Purdy, Purdy, Purdy please hurry up and send us our letters Purdy"... LoL:roflmao::sarcastic:

Calling all RCC Applicants with 75 or lower points. Sign up and lets support each other. The wait for us is more stressful because our points are lower. We still can get in though. Sign up and let's support each other through this process. I am hoping I get in right away. I do not want to be the only one on standby on this thread LoL. Don't be shy. Come join the waiting party .

Thank you QueenWandaful! I really do hope my score doesn't make anyone here feel less proud of his/her accomplishments so far. I know we've all had to work HARD to get to this point. These classes and tests were no simple feat!! I do keep thinking that something unexpected will keep me from getting in (clerical error?). Heck, maybe I stress too much! One thing I am certain about is that everyone on this thread cares an awful lot about getting into the program and I hope we all get in! I definitely know what it's like to feel like everything is riding on this one shot-- I can't wait to get started and one step even closer to providing a better life for my boys (they're 3 and 8 years old).

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for everyone here!

Thanks Mindy-

I am also wondering about financial aid...thanks for asking that question! I need to look into that asap  Does anyone here know the answer to this question by any chance?

How disappointing it is to learn that they are pushing back the date! I'm sure we can all agree that having more time to prep for the program would be awesome, considering there are a number of things to get in order. For one, I don't presently have health insurance (don't judge me, please!) due to financial burdens.

Is there a tentative list of courses we can expect to take for the first semester? I've been out of school for some time now and will need to get a tiny head start or else it'll just be way too overwhelming when the official start day comes. :nailbiting:

Ann you worked hard for your points. If I were you I would make an appointment and verify that they have everything. Don't call or email, go there and have them to go over your points ASAP. I'm sure it must be bitter sweet for them as well. They have so many students applying and they know not all will make it. That darn TEAS messed me up. Nerves test anxiety got the best of me. Science was my strongest part. I messed up on reading and language. They only take your first passing TEAS score. Those who failed get to take it again for free. If they took it at RCC. It's good your going to school while they are young. When they get older they become more expensive. I hope everyone here on this thread gets in for the Spring too. :)
