Did anyone else apply to the RCC program for Spring 2012? Does anyone know if we will have to wait until January to find out whether or not we get in? I'm hoping they will let us know by December. This waiting is torture!

No, but i graduated from there January 1991, top of class. Would have been 1990 but had to skip 4th semester and get a scholarship, which i did (2500).
Furthermore, Collette's GPA was a 4.0, so i would have been in second place.
:)
Hard to believe she ace'd everything, including ----- pharmacology class!!! Nothing like going thru and entire 1000page or so pharm book in about 2.5wks--which prompted me walking into her office in despair.
good luck.
It was quite a rigorous program back in the pre/90s--probably still is?
At 19, it was the most difficult thing I ever did in my life.
A couple of the instructors were a bit eccentric (---, --------, blue-angel wife)
My advice, at least for back then, try to blend in. My first day of class was shorts and a muscle shirt.
Pure arrogance.
But nothing taught me more about being a better human being than that nursing degree.
Make good use of your advisors from the previous semesters--sometimes they change books on you, and do not update the tests!!!!
Does anyone know how they calculate the points for non science gpa? What if I haven't taken all of the required classes for an ADN?
if all the pre-reqs have not been taken, you have a less chance of getting in, all other factors equal with another applicant.
the dean of nursing would answer these questions, and possibly a nursing student in the first semester--just ask one of them after the class--find out when/where the classes are
befriending one or two now is recommended.
the counselors seemed to know LESS than the students and dean

Well technically it's not a pre-req, it's a requirement for graduating with an ADN. Thank you for your advice though! :)
ok--the dean would have to give permission if all the pre-reqs were not already done in most, if not all, cases.
the same rule may apply, however. they used to prefer applicants that had most, if not all (PE didnt count against), classes done to minimize disruption from the nursing classes, ie class load.
seems to me that your overall 'score' that they give you would be more important as to what order in the waiting list you were placed
Hello,
I am a student applying for RCC in Spring of 2012. I was wondering if anyone thinks I have a chance of getting in.
Here are my facts:
I got invited to take the TEAS at RCC.
I have completed all of my general education requirements.
I have Taken the TEAS.
I currently have a total of 70 points.
Can any give me feed back on my score?
Please respond because, like most of you, I am extremely apprehensive!
Thank You
Based of this post, the previous semesters required around 85 points to be accepted. However, previous semesters' threshold doesn't correlate to the upcoming semesters. For example, different factors can affect the outcome: the number of applicants applied and their points, available seating (around 100 which double from the previous semester), accepted applicants turn down the offer (RCC was not their first choice), etc. After all this, stay positive and look for alternatives. My score is also low and will look for other options.
There were students with 75 points that got in from being an alternate. They are accepting more students 100 vs. 60 from last semester. --- also said that the 5.0 teas scores are much lower so that will also play a role in the point system adjusting. I'm hoping if alternates were some 75 pointers that 75 just might be able to get us in this semester.

Congratulation, hismija! The program mean is at 64.9%. A rough estimate on the people there was about 50 for the afternoon session. Don't know how many people showed up for the morning session.
