Did anyone else apply to the RCC program for Spring 2012? Does anyone know if we will have to wait until January to find out whether or not we get in? I'm hoping they will let us know by December. This waiting is torture!
Do you know if this includes people that have already taken the TEAS?
A previous poster stated that they had received an invite but had already taken the test somewhere else so it may be a mixed group. I guess it just depends on when and if the applicants have submitted their previous scores to the nursing department.
From what I have heard, this is how it works.....Invites for the TEAS were based on science (A & P, micro) GPA only...Some applicants taking the TEAS may still have a lower overall points score if they haven't completed all of the prerequisites...an invite to take the TEAS is just that...after the TEAS is scored, the overall points are calculated and applicants are chosen then....120 were invited to take the TEAS and they are admitting 100 students...this is just what I have heard so if anyone else has more accurate info, please jump in!
Yeah that sounds about right. They do base who gets to take the TEA'S on only your science g.p.a. So someone might have a higher science g.p.a. but still less points than someone who didn't get an invite. If you got an invite then that is a good sign. From reading other posts from previous app periods they will rarely accept someone if they still have a prerequisite course in progress even if they have great scores on everything else (I could be wrong though).
If you didn't get an invite for the TEAS, don't worry because like everyone is saying that the invitation is based on the science courses (anatomy, physiology, and microbiology) gpa. Victory Valley College is offering the TEAS on Nov. 17 at 1:30. Here is their link. No reservation required, but it will cost 35 dollars to take the exam. It might cost additional money to send your score to RCC.
I had a 4.0 in the sciences and was invited to take the TEAS, but I already took it at Loma Linda. It costs $25 to have your scores sent to RCC from ATI Testing. I met with Jackie and Steve over the summer, and they said that since they are letting in 100 applicants for spring (more than usual) the points cutoff could lower than usual. Most are going to be admitted based on points, but there will be a few chosen by random selection. From what I understood, you could be chosen by random selection even if you have a course in progress. Hope this helps, and good luck to everyone!
