Riverside Community College Fall 2015 RN

Anyone applying for RCC's Fall 2015 Nursing program?

Thought I'd start a thread to communicate about applying, TEAS, etc.

Am I the only one super confused by the course calendar? It's all over the place to me !

Edit: Nevermind I finally figured it out.

Monday- 7-9 welcome, 9-12 orientation, 1-4 skills

Tuesday-8-3 skills lab

Wedesday- 8-4 skills day

Thursday-8-11 seminar

Friday-8-11 seminar, 12:30-1:30 exam, 1:30-2:30 library tour, 2:30-4:30 Pearson orientation.

I wanted to do the same but I just didn't want to be missing two coursepoints you know, because the nursing department only put asterisks by 3 of them but the bookstore has 5 coursepoints listed I just wanted to see which was correct you know lol, the lists conflict with one another.

Touché... I think I (and my wallet) will be fine with just hard copies w/o Coursepoint. If it becomes a required resource then I'll jump on it. I will def be studying with you! -I like your thinking!

I can definitely wait! 2years of nonstop studying. 🙌

Lol, ok, ok, ok, maybe I take it back, you're right, I can wait 😂 lol

I'm still waiting on Complio to clear me. Glad I jumped on my immunizations before Intake!

Phoenix sounds grand, but I'm focused on RCC... I still need Stats, which I plan on taking during Winter. But I will cross that BSN bridge when I get there.

I also recommend looking on Amazon for your texts... I only went with what RCC Nursing requires. I also asked one of my coworkers (Nursing 11 Spring semester) for which textbooks she ACTUALLY used as far as Coursepoint (they used PrepU) and bought those packaged (text WITH CP) through Amazon. All-in-all I have every textbook (some used) with (selected) Coursepoints with a grand total of $1043.16

Any of you know someone who needs a kidney? I'll be selling mines. 😒

@dvd the books come with cp on amazon? Do you remember the name of the store you got them from? Were they cheaper than with lippincot? & so you didnt buy the coursepoint for all books it was required for only for some?

Some were available as a package with both text and CP. I don't know if they were cheaper... I was confused with Lippincots website... I only have 3/5 CP and I will purchase whatever's required later on (if needed).

Yes I am also only purchasing the three on the sheet that was given by the nursing program. Med Surg, Maternal, and Taylor's Fundamentals. I contacted the department and they only had 3 listed as being required, plus one other that we don't even have listed on our sheet by the name of Videbeck. I'm going to get the three and the other required texts. I will purchase anything additional once school begins to conserve my funds lol .

I am in Nursing 13 now and I bought all the books, but never used them. The books you named are the main 3 and you will also need the Lynn skills book. First semester I only used Taylor and skills book. Second semester was maternal health and med surg. You will need to buy prepu for questions and some teachers have assignments from prepu. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your response and your guidance! I'd like to ask you if you have any tips on being a successful student first semester as a new student. Do you have any study and/or reading tips? Test taking tips? Note taking tips? Any response would be great, I know you are probably busy and I appreciate your help ☺
