Anyone applying for RCC's Fall 2015 Nursing program?

Thought I'd start a thread to communicate about applying, TEAS, etc.

@msyoung- Thanks so much for the coupon code! That's like $100 off right?? Does our course points add up to 780? (Insane)

@Tash-I want Cohort A and RMC, mainly because I am trying to work a few days (I am a waitress) and I really want to be able to work Thursday nights.

@Sammy- I love love love love love my macbook. Love it. And, they last SO long. They are pricey, but there should be some great sales coming soon for students/back to school!

I am going to go to the bootcamp! It sounds like it's going to be great. Mynephew is due the 17th...so I hope he stays in there a few extra days or comes a little early :)

Will you all be getting priority? I have to take my measles shot on Monday, and I asked ---------------- (the lady that only works Mondays) yesterday if I can get priority even if I have to take my measles #2 on August 6th and she said yes.. So that's cool, I thought they might not let that happen but maybe they do because we can't control how long we have to wait in between shots?

Has anyone looked more into University of Phoenix? I was really considering it yesterday.. but after hours and hours of reading everywhere, their accreditation scares me.. and if you notice, on the bottom of their flyer it says one of their accreditation was put on notice.. So since I want to continue on and get my masters I don't think I am going to do that route, even though the timeline is awesome.

You are so welcome, and yes I think it came up to almost 780 or 780 I just added it to my cart lol I didn't buy them yet because my bank account got scared lol. But also if the code I gave doesn't work if you register with them before purchasing they give you a 15 percent off code which is a good backup. Anything to save a few bucks you know. I wish the code was for 50 percent off hahah!!

I am also going to be attending the bootcamp as well, University of Phoenix I was thinking about but I decided not to. It sounds great but almost 1500 per class ugh, I didn't even pay that when I went for my Masters in Ed. The timeline is great, but there are also some great bridge programs out there for way less, at Cal States, and Universities.

I think those are the same as I have for work! Do the look like chucks? I put new compfy inserts in them and they are pretty good, especially for the price.

@ms.young I am on the site right now looking at the course points, did you chose the software option for each of them?

@tash86 I thought the price was great too! And ya I'll probably throw in some inserts. I am used to standing all day at work anyways though, so my feet are pretty tough :)

All I have left to do is get my second MMR but S.P said you will still get priority if you are waiting on the last of a series.

University of Phoenix sounded great but I went home and really thought about it and it sounds just to much of an overload. I'm going to enjoy my summer break. My daughter is 4 and time flys by, so going to enjoy my breaks. I also work PT. I was looking into Western Governers or other online RN-BSN to start right after NCLEX.

I could not find the coursepoint for Taylors clinical nursing skills on their website, only textbook or Ebook.

Yes I haven't purchased them yet but the software option was the only option for selection, so I assumed it was software since you have to download it right away from what I was reading. 😄 The Lippincott customer service team was also very helpful.

@sammy I was going to suggest a macbook too lol I love mine and i haven't had problems with downloads.

I was really interested in the university of phoenix program but i hadn't seen the bottom of the flyer yet. doesn't RCC have a program with cal state fullerton too?

I think I am going to go to the boot camp too it sounded interesting. She said we would get tips on how to succeed, those will probably come in handy

Yeah that was so much information covered during that take. For the yellow sheet with the N11 book list, was all the selected reading books required?

If anyone can answer this question I'd be so grateful lol...

So from what I'm getting from the book list I see a total of five books which require the Coursepoint access. The five books I have as requiring such are:

1. Med Surg Brunner and Suddarth's

2. Taylor's Fundamentals

3. Maternal and Child Health

4. Gerontological Nursing

5. Taylor's Clinical Nursing Skills.

Now on the list that was provided by the nursing dept, doesn't list the Taylor's Clinical skills or the gerontological nursing as having a Coursepoint required. They only have three listed as needing the coursepoint, but the list that was given by the bookstore has 5 required books which need the coursepoint. I am confused and do not want to purchase more than what is needed. I am also going to send this same message to the department.

Thanks everyone!!

I personally want to go with what our Nursing Dept gave us... Our Bookstore is going to suggest the most expensive textbooks because they know we will buy them.

I wanted to do the same but I just didn't want to be missing two coursepoints you know, because the nursing department only put asterisks by 3 of them but the bookstore has 5 coursepoints listed I just wanted to see which was correct you know lol, the lists conflict with one another.

That's a great question...I might wait till bootcamp to buy the coursepoints then, just in case!

I got a few books in the mail today that I got off amazon, and they were still in the plastic! Crazy, and so much cheaper.
