Riverside City College: Spring 2017

Published

Greetings all future RN students. I just wanted to start a thread for any potential applicants who will be applying to riverside city college RN program this September for Spring 2017. Let's all get together on this thread and share experiences as well as answer questions. I know the application period is 6 months away, but it will be here before you know it!

does anyone know if rcc's program is 4 or 5 semesters? because i just got into rio hondo but its 5 semesters which bums me out because technically i wouldnt start until next fall [theres a class you have to take and pass in spring] so im wondering if all nursing programs are like that? anyone know?

There's an intersession between the 2nd & 3rd semesters at RCC, with 4 full semesters.

i saw that but didnt quite understand what that was... can you elaborate

Here's the course description; it's in winter & summer intersessions & is a little over a month long.

i read that, so basically its 4 semesters plus a winter and summer ?

No, just one intersession; winter or summer, depending on which semester you enter the program.

Five semesters technically sp fall winter spr and fall if you get in this coming semester...

Five semesters technically sp fall winter spr and fall if you get in this coming semester... hopefully you accept in case you don't get in for rcc lol

people are saying "omg thanksgiving is already here! the year is moving so fast!" and im over here like not fast enough! :roflmao:

The 16th won't get here fast enough

Question, did everyone just send in the transcripts from the other schools attended, or did we also have to fill out a validation form to get them checked out?

When I was checking the date my transcripts were submitted, I saw this note

"Students must fill out a Prerequisite Validation form at the Counseling counter in order to have coursework on official transcripts validated for math, English or other prerequisites."

I am hoping that the RN admissions program do this already while choosing applicants?

I had transcripts from three other institutions, so my application was a bit hectic. I sent over all my official transcripts to RCC. I had my schools do that for me, so that there was no way I could tamper with them. Really, this part doesn't matter as long as the envelope says "official transcript" on it and it's unopened. Then, I made a counseling appointment with the nursing department at RCC. At that appointment, we worked side-by-side to make sure all my courses were accounted for. For example, I ended up needing to order in my AP scores (which was a whole different ordeal) for English even though my high school transcript had my AP score on it, and I was pardoned by my university from their beginning writing courses because of that AP score (also on my university transcript). Basically, you can't over-prepare, and I'd just turn in everything that had a grade on it to RCC. Their goal is to make sure the course numbers from your other institutions match up with RCC's, so do everything you can to make their lives easier. I think I ended up turning in 5 transcripts: high school, 2 community college transcripts, my university transcripts, and my AP scores.
