Riverside City College: Spring 2017

Published

Greetings all future RN students. I just wanted to start a thread for any potential applicants who will be applying to riverside city college RN program this September for Spring 2017. Let's all get together on this thread and share experiences as well as answer questions. I know the application period is 6 months away, but it will be here before you know it!

i went to riverside today and they said they didnt even begin looking through applications yet :(

I turned my transcripts in to the counseling department and did not fill out a validation form. I spoke with S and he said it is fine, if there are any questions about the course I took I may have to supply a syllabus (the school you attended should have that if you don't). Don't worry though, I'm sure everything will be fine :)

I'm crossing my fingers over here with my 75 points. I hope it's enough!!! :nurse:

To ease some of the anxiety, what kind of nursing would you guys like to pursue? I want to be a labor and delivery nurse. If I can't get into that department, I would like to work the ER.

There were quite a few alternates who were accepted in the program that had less than 70 for Fall 2016. Stay positive!!

We all need to stay positive right now! Alternates sometimes get in with lower scores and they also do that small % random draw. I've read past boards where people got in with 65 pts. Even if we don't make it this semester, there's always the next round.

I work now at Loma Linda Children's Hospital in the step down ICU. Hopefully, I can stay here! At least working with kids in any capacity. I had no idea how much I would love working with them. I did do ER work for a year and a half. It was interesting, and I may go back to it for a little at some point in my career.. but it can be stressful and even harden you up! I want to stay soft lol and labor and delivery makes me a little nervous.. NICU looks cool though! I loove the babies when they come here.

I'm hoping to find my niche while in the program because I have no idea what dept. I'd like to work in! I'm interested in everything so maybe I'll eventually narrow it down

true. there's so much to learn! i'm excited to see it all.

Hey guys. I've probably asked this once or twice already, but do any of you know how the schedule will work? Will be in class all day from like 8-5 mon - fri with the exception of 12 hour clinicals?

The schedule varies during the first semester...

You will be on campus a little longer for the first two weeks of school so expect to be there most of the day (Mon-Fri).

Then when you start your community and clinical rotation, it will go something like this:

Clinical day: Tuesday 7am-2pm

Clinical day: Wednesday 7am-2pm

Seminar and lab: Thursday 8am-11am then 12:30-4:30pm

Seminar: Friday 8am-11am

The only difference between Cohort A and Cohort B is that Cohort A has their lab on Mondays instead.

Hope this helps for those of you who work, have kids or just wanna know what your schedule will be like :-)

Sweet. That schedule sounds reasonable. Hopefully the spring schedule will be similar. Thank you!

It's the first of December you guys!! This is the last home stretch before finding out December 16th!! Hopefully they'll send out emails sooner! That would be great!
