Hello I haven’t seen a forum open for this yet! So I’m an Lvn just applied to Rio Hondo’s Lvn to RN bridge program. I received a confirmation email saying they received my application but I don’t feel too confident because of my overall GPA and TEAS score but I have 7 years Lvn experience. My stats are:
associates degree in allied health
3.0 science GPA (all B’s)
2.7 cumulative due to me being irresponsible in my 20’s -_- I had a lot of C’s in the general education. Retook most
66% TEAS
Work experience: 7 years Lvn
bilingual in Spanish and English
need to work
first generation college student
proof of low income
im hoping the life experiences will boost my chances but I’ve heard that they really value work experience. Fingers crossed. What are your stats and let’s get through this waiting period!

Oh are they? I thought only PCC and LAVC has 2 application cycle for the bridge program. I'm pretty sure Rio Hondo just has 1 cycle each year! and it sucks they have 7 years recency while other colleges have 5 years max. I wanted to retake two of my pre-reg but I will be ineligible if I take those again for Rio Hondo. I'm gonna apply somewhere else or just work to have as many experiences as possible and possibly go straight to BSN if I don't make it to Rio Hondo this semester.... I got an impression Rio value work experiences more than anything so...
Oh maybe I am mistaken about Rio accepting twice a year, I probably read it somewhere else, and thought it was Rio. If they value work experience I hope my letter my boss wrote will suffice =(
Did you apply to any other colleges? I was hoping to go ADN route through community college then BSN through some online program....

YESS thats what I have in mind since community college ADN is soo much cheaper and since now we are LVNS the job opportunities is much more open. I applied to PCC and then APU, for APU I think its kinda tough since I just barely began to work now and Im applying for Fall 2021 in APU. I sent an email to the nursing department at Rio but no reply yet LOL. You applied to PCC as well right? Generic or the bridge program? Are you pretty confident in your STATs?
I applied to PCC for the LVN bridge earlier this year for Summer 2020 but did not get accepted, at that time I did not have 3 of the general ED classess completed, but now I was able to complete it during Spring and Summer, so I am at 78 points, but wish it could be better. I think PCC is competitive, Rio considers if you have already an AA degree while PCC does not.
78 is very solid! I got into the alternate list for pcc during Summer of 2018 with 77 I think but not make it in the end. The only ambiguous think about Rio is that they don't disclose their point system so we neva know. Anyway, best of luck to all of us this upcoming application cycle! Please update if you guys make it into the program! :))
Hi friends. I also applied, and apart from the email I got saying they received my application, I haven’t gotten anything else from them. I was starting to think that I may have not gotten in, but it looks like no one else has gotten a letter or email either. Kinda odd since the mandatory orientation or whatever is supposed to be on the 30th, and that’s next Friday ☠️

I read here and there from the old thread, there are people getting email first and then mail and there's some people only getting their mail acceptance, so I'm waiting for both of those hopefully. And since the mandatory meeting is next Friday so I guess for those who have high chances of getting in will get the mail or email from now to early weekdays next week. But again, nothing for sure especially with the whole COVID things so :((
