This is a thread for Fall 2018 future ADN students at Rio Hondo. Share experiences, stats, or general questions before application opens/closes.
I just read his letter, it said he was ineligible to apply due to not having his reading proficiency. He thinks one of his transcripts didn't go through. So back to a waiting game. It was dated March 23rd.
That sucks... I sent my ELAC transcripts and Rio received them but they didn't put them in the system since ELAC doesn't put the date of birth on the transcripts. I had to go to the admissions to claim the transcripts. I guess the wait shouldn't be that long now, goodluck!

OMG! My anxiety just shot up when I saw your post! lol:nailbiting:
Dang, your friend should've called RH admissions (before the deadline) to confirm that they received all of his transcripts:(
I have it stapled in my mind that "email=BAD" and "letter in mail=GOOD", so that's interesting (and scary) that he received a paper letter.
From past forums it looks like the applicants received their acceptances/denials around April 10-12; however, at that time everyone was informed through email only, no letters in the mail.
Womppp, let the waiting and torture continue...
I sent my transcripts from Chaffey College and did not receive that letter. What do you mean by claim transcripts? Do all transfer students have to do this?
I'm not sure about other schools honestly. Because i went with a counselor to check for the transcripts and she told me that they did not have my ELAC transcripts on file. She told me that ELAC doesn't put the D.O.B of students on the transcripts so if there's other students with the same name, they just keep them there. So they do receive the transcripts but they don't know what student to match it too. That's why i had to go to admissions and tell them. She found them and then she just put them under my name. That's what i meant by claiming the transcript thinkpink111.

Interesting Reading Proficiency at Rio is tricky. You have to either have an AS degree or higher or pass the test there higher than Reading 23. (This is from the Nursing Info session)
Nerve wreaking news to say the least!
the last time i applied to Rio Hondo i was disqualified because of reading also. This time i have my associate's so it covers the reading proficiency. unfortunately, the website doesn't state thrat you have to take read prof at rio hondo for it to count. that disqualifies a lot of applicants. their nursing website should be more detailed but it's not. waiting for that letter though! hopefully not an email í ½í¸®
Hey guys I just called the office and asked when acceptance/denial letters would be going out and they said not till around the end of the month :/
They should be coming before 4/27 because that is the date of orientation so if not this/next week we should be getting the letters the week before the 27th

Thanks so much for the info! I hope we hear any day now or by next week for sure. Crossing my fingers for everyone!
How did you find out about the 4/27 orientation? I couldn't find info anywhere on the nursing page about the prospected date and time for orientation! But it seems like classes would start 6/4/18. Definitely the earliest for most!
