Rio Hondo College Spring 2019

Published

I couldn't find any threads for the Rio Hondo Spring 2019 (due 8/27~10/1) cohort, so I'm starting a new thread here. It's my first time applying and not sure how good my chances are. Would love to hear from everyone who also applied! I'm told the selection process begins in October, and they will let us know by November since the first advisement meeting is scheduled for November 9th.

Hello Ichang14, it's also my first time applying

Here are my stats:

Science gpa: 4.0

Degree: Bachelors

Volunteer experience: 200+

No medical license. I included cpr

Other language proficiency: Vietnamese

Life experiences: first generation, need to work, difficult family situation, low income

ATI TEAS: 80%

Good luck to everyone!

Hi PinkC. I saw that you will also be applying to PCC. I am planning on submitting my application there this week.

Our stats are kind of similar, except I do not have my Bachelors.

Science gpa: 4.0

Overall gpa: 3.58

Degree: A.A.

Volunteer: 200+

I did not include cpr, got it 2 days after application submission

2nd language: ASL

Life experiences: low income, disadvantaged social environment, difficult personal circumstance

TEAS: 88.7 (1st attempt)

I feel like I'm going to juuust shy of being selected due to no healthcare experience such as CNA or EMT.

But still going to hope for the best!

Good luck to you!

Yes I'm interested in applying to Pcc, but prefer Rio Hondo. Your stats are very competitive! I hope we find out soon! Good luck!

@PinkC

I would prefer Rio Hondo as well, only because I've read a few negative things about PCC on another thread. However, I don't much about Rio Hondo's program. What is your reason preferring RHC over PCC? Your stats are great! I think you will get in for sure. =)

But honestly, I'd be happy to be accepted at any program. It's all about being able to adapt.

I've also read negative reviews for PCC. I'm also looking at NCLEX passing rates. Rio is higher than PCC. Rio is a lot closer to me. I have a few friends who went to Rio and would recommend their program. The only bad thing about Rio that I can think of is parking. Oh gosh it took me an hour to find parking when I dropped off my application. But like you, I would be grateful if any program accepts me :)

Has anybody heard anything yet? We are very close to the three week mark !

I called Rio's nursing department yesterday. The lady on the phone said they will send out notices to those who have been selected the last week of October.

Hey guys! Just wanted to join in and share my stats too

Science GPA: 3.74

Overall GPA: 3.87

Degree: AA

Volunteer: 100+ hours

2nd language: Vietnamese

Life experiences: low income, first generation student, disadvantaged social environment & difficult personal circumstance

TEAS: 82% (First Attempt)

Good luck everyone! Super nervous

I'm glad you were able to get a hold of someone other than the woman who always seems to answer and only tells me, "In November...okay, Bye". Haha!

It's a surprise that you even got that information. Thanks for sharing!

@pandaeyes

lol...

Well, I was kind of persistent to get the information. She did start by telling me in November, but I was like, umm, but the fire safety meeting is November 9th. Don't we need to have a little advance notification? Haha. So she was like, we'll be sending out notifications FIRST to those who have been accepted the last week of October.

**fingers crossed** Hope we'll all get some good news this week!

My USPS delivery app says that I have a letter coming from Rio Hondo today!
