Rio Hondo College ADN Spring 2020

Published

Hey everyone! I thought I'd open this forum for those of us applying to Rio Hondo. Applications are right around the corner and it would be great to use this as a means of communication. Feel free to post, ask questions, or respond. I hope to hear from you!

Are you guys pretty confident with your STATS? I'm a little discouraged as the counselor told me my TEAS score probably won't cut it ?

What score was that? My pre reqs are a 4.0 if you dont count chem (thanks pcc). My cumulative is a 3.4 due to my irresponsible 20s. I got an 89.3 on my TEAS, but I don't have any experience. Zilch. I did the low income proof but nothing else.

My teas exam is 65.5 yikes. I got A in Micro, physiology, and chem but a B in Anatomy. I'm applying for the LVN to RN bridge program. I have about 6 years experience as an LVN. I'm so nervous I keep checking my mailbox, my e-mail, and this forum ?

I’m not the most confident. My pre reqs are a 3.0 my overall is a 3.4 . My Teas score is 78. I have over 300 volunteer hours at a hospital. I am first generation, low income, Spanish speaking, need to work while taking pre reqs & I am a Veteran. When I met with the counselor she told me I was a good applicant but that a CNA license would make me a strong applicant. I just didn’t have the time to get my cna license for this application period. So if I don’t get into any programs this term I’m going to get my CNA license to add it to my application for the spring period

I also have a second language and proof of need to work. Hopefully that's enough. Did you apply at any other schools?

I have heard the LVN to RN is easier to get into, but that may be hearsay. Fingers are crossed for you.

As for me, I would feel a lot more confident if I had cna and or patient care experience.

I applied to Santa Ana, cypress, and pcc as well. I will also be submitting an application for Cal State La. If I don’t get in anywhere then I’ll be applying to a lot more schools in the spring including privates. How about you ?

Hello everyone I am also applying for spring 2020.

My stats are:

Bachelors

Home health aide : 1010 hours

Cna license: just got certified on September 18.

pre reqs : Anatomy got an A , physiology got a B+, Microbiology got an A

Overall gpa: 3.6

Life experiences: difficult family circumstances and low income

Also included my BLS card

Teas score not that great: 75

I have an A in all my sciences except for physiology. My overall GPA is 3.7 I believe and I am a CNA. I got an 84.7 on my TEAS. Hoping all of that will be enough to get in somewhere. I have my associates now but it wasn’t posted when I had to send it in unfortunately.

I got straight A’s in all my science

my overall GPA 3.6

i got 87.4% on TEAs

i have a bachelors from CSULB

i have my EMT license (5 years now)

i have worked in the ER for 3 years.

I applied to GWC (got in), LBCC (didn’t get in), Rio, Cypress, and Saddleback

the constant wait is driving my anxiety higher and higher. I got into 1 school so if I don’t get in anywhere else I’ll be ok. But I’d like to have all my responses before making a decision! Good luck everyone! I hope we find out soon

I just called rio and they said they are still working on acceptances and denials.. seems very strange to me since the mandatory meeting is on November 1st.

That’s weird. Do you think they might send the letters through email rather than regular mail since we are getting close to the mandatory meeting?

Guess they are running behind. I suppose they'll have to move the mandatory meeting then?

Ugh more waiting.
