I haven't seen a thread yet for the Fall 2024 Rio Hondo ADN applicants so I wanted to make it for anyone else who is applying/ has questions.
- I was wondering to anyone who applied before and maybe got waitlisted or denied, where do they send the acceptance/waitlist/rejection email... Should we be receiving it in our regular emails or school emails? I'm not sure how to access my school email because it won't allow me since I've never applied to the school nor do I currently take any classes. Also do they give out rejection emails? I've applied to schools that have not and it sucks, but I literally just found out through these threads that I didn't get accepted.
"hi! saw your comment in the rio hondo fall 2024 thread, and I just have one question!
what does a typical week in first semester like? how many days are you in campus and what days of the week? if you could answer this for me, I would greatly appreciate it because I am trying to fix my schedule at work. thank you!"
Hey guys I am a first year student at Rio Hondo and I cant seem to do private messaging yet so I'll answer it here.
So basically you have clinical one day a week so for me its on Monday. Then I have lectures on Tuesday and Thursday and then Wednesday I have lab. But its going to vary with what they have you register as. Because some student have clinicals on Wednesday so it really just depends. And after the first 8 weeks, your schedule is going to change basically for us they just added another lab.
Just FYI its really hard to do school and work like other students had to quit or go to part-time so if you don't have to work, I suggest to keep it that way LOL.

thanks for these infos! how long does a lecture day usually run? is it like 7 am - 3 pm like other programs (or so I heard)?
Tuesday lecture is from 2:30 to 3:45 pm and Thursday is from 8 am to 1 pm. and Wednesday I have pharm lab from 10 to 11:45 am and then clinical lab from 12:45 to 2:45 pm
labs definitely vary because they break the labs into smaller groups so other students have diff schedules for those. But the lectures, the whole cohort is in the same class.

hi! I wanted to ask how you feel about the program's quality because I've been seeing mixed things about RHC on past threads. I was waiting on an acceptance from another school, but ultimately found out that I wouldn't be hearing back from them, so I'm debating attending RHC for the upcoming semester or waiting for the next cycle to re-apply to other schools. any input on how you feel about the program's support and staff would be highly appreciated!

I've been wondering about this too! I was accepted to another program in the past and their communication was on point, everything was very clearly outlined. It doesn't feel the same way with this program. 😵💫 Could just be this part of it though, it doesn't say anything about the instructors themselves. But I will say my friend used to work at the college (as admin staff) and he said it's a good program.

Just to clarify, you meant that your friend used to work at RHC? :0 Also out of curiosity, what other program have you been accepted to? I'm a little worried too with the lack of info on RHC's side, but they've been pretty good about contacting me and replying to me when I email them directly at least!

Honestly I love the program but its pretty hard (I mean its nursing school). The instructors are amazing and you'll never be blindsided. Just stay on top of everything. The syllabus they give you is exactly the template of the classes. However, when you're accepted it's not a guarantee that you'll stay in the program because if your average for exams at the end of the course is below 75%, then you fail the class and won't be able to move on. But I really like that because it keeps me motivated. It's a really great and respected program and heavily gets you ready for the NCLEX. Rio Hondo students are seen very highly at clinicals too. Instructors are always there if you need help and want to see you succeed.

Yeah I definitely agree on the application process they can work on that a little better because there's hardly info for the program LOL but it's not like that when you're in the program.

Thanks for the reply, I feel a bit better about possibly choosing RHC; I think the 75% pass or fail rate is fair honestly so I'm happy to hear that! I'm still thinking about possibly waiting another cycle because RHC is a little further from me than I would like in comparison to a handful of other schools, but do the clinicals tend to be far from the main campus of RHC? I know it would probably change from a cohort to cohort basis, but I wanted an idea of how far the clinical sites might be!

I received an e-mail stating that I was an alternate. I was also given a recall e-mail and was rejected twice, LOL. Called and confirmed. I am an alternate. Now, I hope I can get into the first semester.
