It really depends on your schedule, which you don't receive until right before the semester starts. I can't confidently give you an idea of what it will be like because my first semester was much different than how the subsequent first semester students' schedule was handled.. We're moving to a new building this year too, so the structure of classes are most likely going to change drastically. That's just my intuition though, not to say this is for sure. We're usually thrown into the semesters blindly and we scramble to make things work in the first couple weeks.

It's really disorganized, I'm sorry to say. :( Finished second semester this past semester and it's been a struggle for the past few years. I recommend keeping your schedule open because it's more than likely they will change your schedule right before the semester starts or even a week or two into the semester, it's not unheard of in this program.. The application process is reflective of the school imo.

hiya all, currently in the second semester for the program at PCC, just wanted to say they send acceptances out pretty late. I can't attest to whether if they'll be this late for this application period, believe I got my acceptance in early July and I was already hard committed to another school at that point. I chose PCC in the end over convenience since I did all my prereqs there and it was closer vs my other acceptances distance wise. this late notice reflects on the school and I want to say to just be flexible with your scheduling going forward because they're changing a lot semester to semester, so how my first semester went isn't the same as how it is for the current first semester students. it'll change a lot more with the change of directorship and the fact that we're most likely moving from the CEC campus to the main campus this year.

You're very welcome, but from what I know there's a group with a clinical on Thursdays I think. So I would say to keep your weekdays flexible for now, but it should only be about 3 days a week If it's been released already, you can take a peek at the first semester classes on the schedule of classes to see what days the classes may be

It's about 3 days a week due to the hybrid nature of the scheduling, some students have M/T/W, other students have M/W/F. Monday is the same for everyone since that's when our fundamentals class is, the other class would be skills lab, and then clinical. This is just for first semester, I heard weekends are possible in later semesters.

I have heard good things about Mt. Sac! I'm sure it'll be great there, I have heard the same thing too about PCC's program and I'm not sure why that's been a problem lately.

I am not since I plan to do a bridge program with another school, but the workload for APU seems to be moderate to heavy in the first half of the semester from what I heard and saw of my classmates. I think the only drawback about APU is that it might be a little hard to manage due to the fact you're adjusting to the program during that time as well, but it's manageable. Also personally, it depends on your professors, but I don't feel that great about the kind of support and education they've been providing, so again it's been a lot of self studying on my end. What they say in class most likely will not reflect what you need to know for exams, if you ask them "do I need to know so and so?” the answer is always a yes, despite it not even being on the exam. Some of the resources they provide, like their powerpoint slides, also aren't the greatest.. It depends again on who makes and provides the resources for a particular topic. It took me a while to figure out a study method, but in the end I felt the need to utilize the books, slides, and outside resources to succeed.

I will be honest, the program was really disorganized in the first couple weeks, especially since we didn't have an assigned teacher for a couple classes for the first 3/4 weeks. It's a lot of self studying, which is to be expected though.. I would say your experience depends on what professors you get for specific classes, some of them want you to truly succeed and some of them will barely answer questions you present to them. Unfortunately, you also cannot pick your professors because you're assigned to specific classes and schedules with your group. The program also tends to bring up things very last minute and they're very vague about certain things, like how to prepare for tests. Another group I know of barely got any practice for the first medication administration check off because they were told last second when their skill check off was due. So I would say it's best to make the best of what you're given and try to work together with your group, as I wish my group could have done. Just expect a lot of chaos in the first couple weeks and try to be flexible, they'll get you through what you need to do, albeit it may be very out of the blue and last second when they inform you. Personally I disliked the disorganization, but I do appreciate the flexibility of the program for things like our uniform and the scheduling (hybrid approach). We actually did it two days ago! Personally, I passed 100%, but we had to self study a lot for this exam.

Hi, has anyone received any registration/class codes? I haven't been hearing back from any of the faculty regarding clearances so I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, thanks!

Congrats! But same, I wasn't sure if anyone else wanted to make a groupchat or something for our cohort. If anyone does, I'd be up for it; I know only fb groups are allowed on here, but I don't use fb unfortunately ^^;

Oh okay that doesn't sound super bad! Sorry, I have one more question; I know it differs from year to year but do you remember there being any mandatory meetings for RHC prior to the start of the semester from when you first started the program? I tried to call and ask about mandatory meetings, but they don't have a definitive answer either and the only dates I know of are the Keys to Success event and the Castlebranch deadlines..

Thanks for the reply, I feel a bit better about possibly choosing RHC; I think the 75% pass or fail rate is fair honestly so I'm happy to hear that! I'm still thinking about possibly waiting another cycle because RHC is a little further from me than I would like in comparison to a handful of other schools, but do the clinicals tend to be far from the main campus of RHC? I know it would probably change from a cohort to cohort basis, but I wanted an idea of how far the clinical sites might be!
