$10,000 Reward for informing on each other in Texas!

Published

So how do you nurses feel about Texas's new law re a reward for $10,000. if you inform on anyone having an abortion over 6 weeks or even someone who helps them? You can get even more money if you inform on anyone wearing a Covid mask in school but you have to be careful because in Texas anyone can have a legal gun without permits or even training!

Not a reward, actually.  The new law would provide standing to anyone, and allow them to bring suit against an abortion provider.  There is also also some concern that this would apply to those counseling a person considering abortion.

Regardless, since you asked for opinions.  I think that this is a huge overstep, and an invasion of the woman's right to choose the best treatment option for her.  At least one suit has already been brought against this, and I would be surprised if there aren't more.  I would also think that the court will issue an injunction barring implementation.

Another thought, and this is my lay oponion.  I don't see how a non-interested party has standing to bring suit, although the Texas Attorney General is hoping this is going to limit challenges to implementation.

The Texas Attorney General may not have the best judgement.  He's already under felony indictment. The fellow is as crooked as a hockey stick.

I think what you might find is that the people who these headlines are aimed at will not do the research beyond $10,000 and abortion. Exactly what I did to stimulate a reaction.

It's all about the headline, the person gets reported and the authorities now know and the reporter gets nothing. Kind of like East Germany in Soviet times, China and Turkey today. And the always present Nazi Germany!

Absolute reflection of the Nazis when children were coerced to inform on their parents.
