Review University for Nurses

Published

hi guys. I just want to ask about Review Center like RUN? Is it a good review center? I'm planning to enroll there soon.... so any info about them will really help me in making my decision.

any suggestion about other review centers will be very much appreciated!

thank you...

please.. do reply soon... thanks!:loveya:

The time to ask is before you consider enrolling in a program.

What do you actually know about them? And if a review program, then they are not a university or accredited as that, and should not even be using that in their title. That should make you think twice just by what they are calling themselves.

They are nothing more than a review center. And should not use any other misleading title in their name.

I would advise you not to even consider RUN. They were once affiliated with our school, and I have experienced reviewing with them. You'll do better with other review centers.

In choosing review centers, ask about their student-to-teacher ratio, review schedules, and passing rate. Somehow these factors could give you an idea on how well a review center is doing. Other people's testimonies may help too.

Review centers could only get you so far. They don't make miracles. They're not a guarantee that you'll pass the exam. Everything is up to you. If you have studied and prayed your hardest, what could be wrong? :heartbeat

Thank you for that information.

Do you have any suggestion on what review centers are really good?

Thank you for that information:saint:

Do you have any suggestion on where I should enroll then?

about r.u.n.: they have an ace now: the top 1 in the previous nle came from them. but based on my experience, almost all(i recently sat in on carl balita, i have tried r.u.n., gapuz, pentagon, and others) are basically the same: promises, promises, PROMISES!:clown:

the only advantage you get is the mock exam(all of the centers) you'll have a "previous experience" so you know what to do at the exam itself.

funny, if the nursing schools teach well there wouldn't be a need for review centers, just review.

They still are not what they say they are. They are not a university sanctioned by your government, so they should not be using the word "university" in their name to begin with. It would not be permitted anywhere else.

And review centers are only as good as the instructors as well, and suggest that you find out how many are actually practicing nurses with jobs in actual hospitals where they are getting paid for that, and you will find that there are not going to be many, if any.

Having one student that scored the highest on an exam does not make a program, chances are that the one person would have done well without them.

Unless they can adequately prove that they have a number of students that have actually have done that well, one student means nothing in the scheme of things.

Sorry, but their name alone is reason not to want to use them.

I reviewed with RUN too (it's also the review center my school is affiliated with). And well...I think you'll be better choosing another review center. When we had our final coaching there were a thousand students and one lecturer, because they crammed all these students from different schools in one venue. :o They have very few (okay, only two!) lecturers that I found actually interesting. It was so bad my friends and I actually attended for a couple of hours each day then just went home to do self study.

Based from my experience with the June 2007 NLE, it didn't matter whether I attended a review center or not. The few months of review classes is still not equivalent to what you actually learned during your lectures and clinical practice. So if you think that you can do it without a review center, just go ahead. Don't give in to the mentality that in you have to attend a famous review center in order to pass :)

It strikes me as odd that nursing graduates are willing to spend ANOTHER 15,000 to 40,000 pesos to "review" what they should have been taught over the nearly 5 years of pursing the BSN.

May I suggest a simple solution and money better spent on trying to review for the NLE; Hire a top notch graduate nurse who has successfully passed the NLE instead of a review center.

The benefits are very obvious, One on One instruction and review from someone who has already passed the exam; Private and quiet surroundings in your own home or the instructors home; choosing times of your choice to effectively study and review; avoiding the expense of living in a crowded and theft prone dormitory with hundreds of strangers; and finally, the nurse tutor YOU HIRE will benefit from the income!! Even if your nurse tutor is working, the salary is so poor that Im sure it will be greatly appreciated.

I feel this would be MUCH better for the student to receive full time attention and assistance, rather than sitting in a big room with one dis-interested lecturer droning on and putting up slides.

As an alternative, 2 or 3 grads could hire a single nurse tutor to defray the expenses and still receive much better instruction than at a review center.

Just a thought!

How about RCAP and PRS? Are they that good?

Thanks for all the information guys!

I had my review in RCAP. They're good. I just dont like the facilities.. too small. They also have reviewers who are not good, but there are some who's very outstanding. Almost all of my batchmates reviewed there and when we dont like the reviewer, we complain and ask someone else. Overall, they're good.
