Please make sure that your center is using nurses that have been licensed in the US, and hold a current license if they are preparing you for working in the US. And have actually worked in the US.
Memberships in any organizations in the US, or even a relationship supposedly with, such as the American Heart Association mean absolutely nothing in terms of preparing you for working over here.
Do not choose a center just on its name, but on the instructor that will be preparing you. Make sure that they are who they say they are, and can deliver what they promise to, or ask for your money back. And get it back.
My friend will be enrolling in a new review center in Baguio. I didn't get the name but she said the reviewer is a RN and training director in the East Coast and will be coming to conduct a CGFNS/NCLEX review this September. So materials are suppossedly fresh and updated. Don't know about the rates yet but they will be specializing in CGFNS/NCLEX only.
Since you are new here, I will throw in a piece of news for you. There are only a handful of states in the US that still require the CGFNS exam, most just require the CES from CGFNS.
The CGFNS exam will not give you a license. For some reason, most of the agencies in the Philippines state that you need to have that exam for everywhere, that is not so.
CGFNS exam is a test of English usage in the medical area, as well as knowing all of the Patho/Phys etc., and very different in materials covered from the NCLEX exam. The NCLEX exam does not care about the specifics that you had in school, but what you are now going to do with the information. And preparation is different for both exams, it is not the same.
Hi!Kaplan online for CGFNS? thanks
LANA
yup.. the video lectures are the same with the class review..
the advntage is that it is more convenient since i can have an access for review 24/7.. i can review anytime.. but, it's expensive.. yet worth the money..
but if i were u, just study the cgfns study guide for cgfns.. and saunders for nclex.. too late when i learn about these books..
i thought you're applying at NJ? i think cgfns is waived in that state... check it out..

hi suzanne!
im a registered nurse in the philippines
im planning to practice in new jersey where my aunt
lives so i need to take cgfns. im confused what review
center wouls i choose.
in kaplan they have 180 hours laboratory + 26 hours
lecture 3hours 3x a week is that advisable for cgfns?
in labagnoy review center they have 1 month course
review 1 month critical review 1 month final coaching
perhaps just like in gapuz cos i went to gapuz on my local
boards, but i learned from some friends labagnoy is good in
cgfns while kaplan is good in nclex + gapuz is for local
boards... no doubt about that
also im looking for good resources for cgfns, right now im
so confused, no problem with the fee no problem with the
location... the only thing is which is better for cgfns?
labagnoy or kaplan? pls help! thanks!
