REVIEW the basics/ must knows!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I posted this coz I want to know (and maybe to others also) the MUST know basics in Nursing.. Rule of the thumb as others call it..

Any subject (MS, Psych, Pharma etc)

Im reviewing right now and almost done with my book but the thing is sometimes I tend to forget some of the normal values (i hope this is normal )

thanks!

I'm just thinking aloud...for the lab values, what will be your reference? Because normal lab values depend on what books you're using. Although, there are some normal values that are exactly the same regardless of the reference you are using...

if you memorize the ones you have now, they shouldn't be too much of a different. i will try to post up the normal from my books/sources soon.

  • 4-point crutch gait: (only done with weight bearing) left crutch, right foot, right crutch, left foot
  • 2-point crutch gait: (only done with weight bearing) left crutch & right foot together, right crutch & left foot together
  • 3-point crutch gait: (partial weight bearing) both crutches together with the weak leg....(so both crutches with weak leg together, then bring the good leg)...
  • 3-point crutch gait: (non weight bearing) both crutches together with good leg if bad leg is picked up

also remember with the cane...the client should hold the cane on the stronger side, 6 inches to the side of the feet, and flex elbow 15 to 30 degrees.

here are my version of normal lab values...

i would suggest you check out this thread

https://allnurses.com/forums/f197/anyoone-up-random-fact-throwing-308584.html

and just go through each one and mark down the stuff you need help with. it is a great review. go through your phamacology especially your anti-htn meds. go through the end of each chapters in your med-surg book and see if you can understand the bullet points.

Thanks for thread infor. Found it very helpful:paw:
