Retrogression!!!

World Immigration

Any news about retrogression?

i disagree with you, dear rhp123 and ready to explain.

first of all, the vast majority of the us nurses are from china and india, it is understandable, you have more than 2 billion population. however, it is not the blame of nurses from other countries that you are too crawded.

secondly, the us economy and healthcare system needs rn, not phd. you as a phd have a great opportunity to immigrate to canada, for example. they will give you an additional bonus if you are ready to immigrate, so canada needs phd, hurry up!!!

you make the point.

yet, how long will it take to produce a 2-year assoicated degree nurse? and how long will it take to produce a phd? and how many people can make to the doctoral level? you can do the math. that's why the nursing market is sometimes not stable, as the case in england. because it is too easy to produce one to fill in the spot. also consider the fact us is the only developed country that has a high population increase rate.

i do not mean any offense to the nurse profession, in fact, i'm studying part-time to be a nurse.

do you know, dear rhp123, that if you are from country like china or india it is doesn't matter whether you are phd or professor. do you know, that a lot of doctors around the world are ready to study and pay a lot of money to be prepared as a nurse in the us (see md-rn post). so, phd or smth like that in china and india is nothing to to with phd in america. it is different!

finally, i highly recommended to you to complete your study, pass ielts, nclex and earn us nursing license, and only after that you will be able to compare phd in china with rn in the us.

thank you.

The USA has found it down right difficult to produce enough "two-year associated" degree nurses.

There is a shortage of trained faculty to educate these nurses. If that PhD is a nursing PhD, they would be welcome at most nursing schools with open arms.

With the number of prereqs, those two years usually turn into three of four years in the US.

dear rusiba,

i'm talking about phds from us. there are lots of foreign students in us going for phd study, then go for post-doc, or research route. lots of them go through eb1 or niw routes. actually what i just want to say is something about the immigration routes for different professions/routes.

do you know when the eb retrogression first started last year, the eb-1a individuals with outstanding abilities has a retrogression of one year? that mean even if you graduate from a top us school phd program, and become a faculty at another us top school, you still need to wait till quota become current. but pd for eb1 soon became current. it all depends on supply and demand of the labor market. if the demand is high, but supply can catch up with a even higher rate, then market the becomes saturated soon, otherwise, it will remain in demand for a while.

thanks for the wishes. and the same best wishes to you.

Dear rhp123, thanks for your reply, but your position is still illogical. You wrote:"If the law is passed, it will be so unfair to other professions". Could you explain, who prohibit you as a PhD from going through nursing process? I guess it is connected with a lot of problems on this way. So, it is your choice: whether you prefer to be a PhD and to be proud of your great achievement , but have no way for Green Card or become a RN, working hard and get Permanent residence.

Another reason: what do you think, it is fair or unfair if 10 millions illegal immigrants will be granted Green Card, at the same time lawfull nurses from other countries will not be able to complete legal immigration process for ages? Do you know, I had many chances to stay in the US illegally with my US multientry visa, but I prefer going through legal immigration process. And I think it will be unfair if the law means nothing in America.

Therefore the main problem is broken immigration system, and I hope the lawmakers are ready to fix it as soon as possible, no matter it is fair or unfair for PhD from China or India. And we should work together in this way instead of being envious.

Best wishes.

You can't nurse in the USA from a foreign country with a 2 year degree anyway! We have to have completed a nursing course of at least 3 years, with all the requisite hours that are deemed equivalent to US nursing, to even qualify to take N-CLEX. Then we have to get VisaScreen, & jump through all the paperwork hoops. At least that's the case when going from the UK so I can't see it being different from elsewhere?? With the possible execption of those colleges in the Phillipines that have been set up solely to train nurses for the USA (???).

It's time consuming & frustrating. Therefore any foreign nurse who has succeeded in getting through all this must surely be an asset to the place they end up working?

Dear rusiba,

I study nursing because I like to work with other people, help people, and work schedule is flexible and good to spend more time with my kids. I'm in US and already have Green Card.

And I never mention any illegal immigrants. The point is, people think current EB immigration system is broken needs a reform, not just granting quota to temporarily fix the problem.

Deaer rusiba,

Forgot to tell you, I got GC through EB2 immigration of my current job. The current retrogression is about 1.5 years. The company submitted LC for me in the beginning of 2004, when it is approved, the PD date is set to LC date.

congradulations!

if you are green card holder already there is no point to you to bear ill will to nurses from other countries and wish them to get stuck in immigration process for ages. the best example is suzanne rn, bs, mba!, she is trying to support us during difficult times instead of stiring up discord in immigration community. you should get an example from her.

as of illegal immigration it is the only one example what is fairly or unfairly. our society is not fair et all, but we should support each other.

god bless you.

rusiba, thanks!

i hope everyone get what they want. i know how painful it is to go through the immigration process. there is a word saying changing is always faster than the planned. keep the faith and get everything ready, when the opportunity comes you can grasp it right away. that's how the world works.

thanks again and may god bless you too.

If the law is passed, it will be so unfair to other professions. Why a 2-year associate degree nurses can make an express immigration way, while people with PhD degrees from India or China has to wait 3 years for PD to be current? This just doesn't make sense at all to many people.

you are very funny :roll

the US churns out TONS and TONS of PhD's yearly....there is NO PhD shortage here in the US whether in the finance sector or in the health sector....i repeat: "THERE IS NO PHD SHORTAGE HERE IN THE USA"

US immigration allots visas based on DEMAND.....not in how long you took your degree :roll
