California changed their rule in April to 45 days.........................
You can apply to other states, but it can take you quite awhile to get the ATT letter from them. You can sit for the NCLEX exam, where ever you want, Guam, Saipan, soon London and Hong Kong..............it doesn't matter where the actual test is written, that has nothing to do with where you are licensed. I would concentrate more on passing the exam, then trying to get registered with another state at this point. The exam is the same, no matter which state that you write it from. Maybe you need to change your technique for studying. Are you using any of the review books with CDs? You should be doing at least 100 questions per day, and have done at least 3000 to 4000 questions before sitting for the exam.............
Good luck.................. :balloons:
I just gave my exam last April..If they have changed their retake policy they should have written in my Failing notice..but it says 91 days..Are u sure suzzane....Is there any link to that info....
Also this time I am using....MEDS 5-Star NCLEX-RN Exam Essentials Review -- in video format ..NCLEX3000...lippincotts..+ KAPLAN....
I just want get over with this stupid test...and move on with my life.....
Guys- Gals...Plz pray for me.....
Thanks,
Ravi
Hi suzzane......
I just called Ca Board of Nursing and they told me that retake Policy is 91 days in CA..I don't know from where you got the information that you can retake in 45 days..Board guy told me that there are other states that offer 45 days but not our..Great state...where you pay more for everything...
But let's hope i don't have to retake it....
regards,
Ravi
i have pasted the following from the ncsbn web site:
http://www.ncsbn.org/testing/candidates_035dfe94afab47c9b122fb318b3af377.htm
45-day re-take policy
ncsbn has a new policy regarding the number of days in-between nclex administrations. this policy reduces the minimum interval of days between repeat nclex examination administrations from 90 to 45 days and became effective january 1, 2004.
candidates who have applied for licensure with the participating boards of nursing will be permitted to take the nclex examination eight times a year, but no more than once in any 45-day period, unless limited to fewer re-takes by the desired jurisdiction of licensure.
the following boards of nursing are not participating in the 45 day re-take period: california-rn, georgia-rn, guam, montana, oklahoma, puerto rico, south dakota, washington and west virginia-rn.
so now, most states do have a 45 day re-take policy. unfortunately, there are a few states who don't that are in bold above.
hope this helps.
Hi Ravi. Let me wish you best of luck on your exams, I took mine for the first time this July and I must say that it was nothing like I expected it to be. I had a lot of anxiety and did not help at all. Looking forward to reading your results. By the way, you did not say when your retake was. Once again, Good Luck.

hi ravi, as for as I know you don't have to move to any state to take nclex. Its just personvue center near your place that you can register.
I am in a similar situation, and called the BRN directly. They said all I needed was a cover letter indicating that there has been no new disciplinary action or convictions since the last time I applied for licensure. The evaluator said they keep all your original documents in a file for 1-2 years. You do not need to provide all that info. again.
Also in California, you can retake the exam in 45 days!!! We are in 2012 (the rules have changed since some people on here have posted).
