Resurrection University Fall 2014

Published

Hello all and Happy New Year!

I'm starting this thread so that all my fellow applicants for Resu Fall 2014 can have a place to come and ask any and every question that may come to mind. I know I am a tad bit (ok a lot of bit lol) early since the app deadline isn't until April 1st. However, it would be great to hear from all of you as we start this app process.

Where are you taking your prerequisites now? Are you applying to any other BSN programs? Is there anything you are worried/nervous about as far as applying goes?

Also, what is this about ResU software not supporting apple computers? I have a macbook and an ipad, should I just invest in a cheap microsoft laptop instead?

yeah I kind of want to start sooner than later. I just looked at my student portal and boy is that checklist overwhelming! and I have yet to send in the enrollment fee and payment, I don't want to wait too long but I'm still weighing out my options. did you already start submitting stuff from the checklist? Also, where can you find the deadline and applications for the scholarships? I only see the 2013-2014 app

I've done all the health quizzes, bought the uniforms & shoes, and paid the enrollment fee. I haven't done anything yet as far as background and health checks. I plan to start that this friday. And as far as the scholarships, shirley Howell emails them to the students. I believe u need to send in the enrollment fee in order to have access.

Yeah it looks like u would def have to invest in one :(

How long after you found out you were accepted into the program do you have to turn in your background/drug screening/vaccinations?

thanks so much! would you or anyone else happen to know what the passing percentage is for every class? Like is it a 75%?

I was told and i read that everything has to be in by july 18th

thank you so much @ love.live.laugh!! best of luck in the fall 2014 program

75 % is passing. You can only fail a class once. Fail again and you are out of the program

You must pass each ATI exam as well each term after the first one. Level 1 . (Pharm) Level 2 for all the rest. Prepares you for NCLEX If you pass ATI you will pass NCLEX. All my grad glass did on first attempt

But Patho is the hardest class. Weeds out a few folks who would have to reapply when the next cohort starts.

There is virtually no support on the evening/weekend program --at least when I went just a couple of years ago. All tutors for theory and labs were conducive for day cohort only. So if you work a full time day job like I did you are screwed unless you take days off of work. And don't be late to class starting at 5. Traffic issues coming from a job are no excuse and the night teachers are not flexible.

And don't think it will be easy finding a job after grad with a BSN. It took me 2 years post grad to land my first nursing job. The market is saturated with new grads and not enough places hiring. Make sure you network like crazy during clinicals which is something I did not do very well

Good program if you need night/weekend ,and you are almost guaranteed to pass NCLEX. But if I could have gone days I would have gone to community college and let my new employer pay for BSN. They give more focus to clinical skills. For more than $30k RES did not teach us how to start IVs even on a dummy. Maybe the change to St Elizabeth improved some things but that's how it was a few years ago.

When I went to the open house one of the instructors said they do support Apple computers now. And one of the students said she herself had one and almost everyone else.

I think you should be fine, if anything when you register your laptop they will let you know.

congrats on your acceptance :)

and good luck on deciding where to attend.
