Resurrection University Fall 2014

U.S.A. Illinois

Hello all and Happy New Year!

I'm starting this thread so that all my fellow applicants for Resu Fall 2014 can have a place to come and ask any and every question that may come to mind. I know I am a tad bit (ok a lot of bit lol) early since the app deadline isn't until April 1st. However, it would be great to hear from all of you as we start this app process.

Where are you taking your prerequisites now? Are you applying to any other BSN programs? Is there anything you are worried/nervous about as far as applying goes?

I have been trying to look at the same link and it always says error -_-

Though I don't know where the clinical sites are, at the open house they did say that they try to accommodate your first or second choice. They also said they take into consideration the distance you will be commuting and how (car/public transportation).

that's good. The fact that the school is in the city and the clinical sites might be closer and more convenient is why I am leaning towards ResU over Lewis. But I wish I could get a list of the hospitals like Lewis provided us with.

you may not even get clinicals. they will make you all around to find your own replacements if they can't staff the sites---they don't even ask their own teachers when trying to find replacements. thats up to you. oh, and instead of being at the clinical site talking to patients--nope, you need to spend 2 hours phoning around to find a homeless shelter or an AA meeting you can attend. called 30 spots and didn't find one? too bad for you.

lets say you get a clinical assignment-- then they will whittle that down with busy work instead. 10 days of clinical? nope, now its 8 + some busy work you won't have time for. don't like that? now its 6 + even more busy work.

go. to. lewis.

I'm confused, do you go to Resu? Or Lewis?

Because all your comments have been negative about Resu, so I would think you would at least go there to be saying all that. But then you speak well of Lewis, as if you go there too? I'd just like to know, because I actually read this stuff and take things into consideration.

I myself have heard mostly positive things about both, for those who are still trying to decide. I have heard they can be disorganized sometimes, but I have heard that about almost every nursing school I inquire about.

Sources: I have met nurses from Lewis and students at hospitals doing their clinicals from Resu.... Just saying.

However I made my decision based on things like course requirements and distance/commute.

i'm a student at resurrection. i'm speaking from experience. my suggestion to go anywhere else is based on that experience.

That's unfortunate... I'm hopeful it will be different. Thank you for clarifying. I wish you luck & hope things get better for you.

from any former students, this is the sort of thing i hear as well. its not just this year, its previous year. there is no reason to think it will be different next year.

Reading all this makes me really confused now. I was set on attending Resurrection but now I just decided to respond to my acceptance letter to Saint Xavier and will visit their campus this week. Does Resurrection offer any scholarships? Saint Xavier offered me a nice scholarship but they are much farther away. Also, how are some of you picking your classes already? I didn't even get the option to choose whether I want the daytime, night, etc program.

U choose whether u are enrolling in daytime or nighttime before u even submit the application for resu

I also have applied to two different scholarships for resu. Shirley Howell emails them to students faithfully

How and where do you apply for the scholarships? Have the deadlines passed?

I was just informed that I was accepted into the program today! my problem now though is that because I never took the lab portion for microbio I was supposed to take it this summer (well the entire class all over again) but b/c it was taking a while for me to hear back from ResU I dropped the microbio class in order to meet the full refund deadline and now I've missed 2 classes (which is a lot for a summer course that's only 3 days a week) so my only option would be to re enroll in the class in hopes that I haven't missed too much or defer my admission to spring 2015 and take the microbio class in the Fall. Which would be better? I was also accepted into and interested in Lewis but unlike ResU, I wouldn't begin my nursing courses until the following semester.

Well if u think you can take on the course load this summer go for it. I would, only bc I'm ready to start and finish nursing school asap. I've been in college since 2007. :( One of the scholarships has passed (deadline was last Thursday) and the other was for gotlieb memorial hosp which deadline is June 16?? I believe.

yeah I kind of want to start sooner than later. I just looked at my student portal and boy is that checklist overwhelming! and I have yet to send in the enrollment fee and payment, I don't want to wait too long but I'm still weighing out my options. did you already start submitting stuff from the checklist? Also, where can you find the deadline and applications for the scholarships? I only see the 2013-2014 app
