Resurrection University Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi all,

I am new here and have found the forum to be very informational. I decided to start a thread for Resurrection's fall 2012 applicants. I think it would be good to keep in touch throughout the process, so if you have any questions or comments feel free to express them here. I already submitted my application, transcripts and essay, all I need is to take the TEA's test. I'm taking it in February and am really nervous because I haven't even started studying. Has anyone taken it yet? How was it?

I am also applying to 2 other programs:

Loyola's ABSN program

Truman's Associates in Nursing program

I am debating on applying to UIC's GEP program, DePaul's MENP program and Rush's GEM program.

If anyone else is applying to these, please let me know! Thanks & good luck to all.

Hi everyone. I got the call from Juan yesterday and got accepted into the evening/weekend program. I contemplated doing the day program but this works best for my family and it's only 4 months longer. Congrats to all and good luck to everyone still applying.

Woo hoo! Congratulations and glad to have another on board for fall 12!!!!!! :yeah::yelclap::hug:

I'm glad the e/w program will work for you and your family. During my orientation it was said that the evening students are always a great cohort and very hard-working and dedicated so I'm sure it's just as good if not better than doing the day program.

Did Juan by chance say how many spots are left in the programs?

CONGRATULATION !!!!! 4 MONTHS LONGER IS NOTHING... !!!! i wish you all the best !!!

Hi everyone I took the TEAS today, I passed but they told us that Fall semester is already filled so I have to wait for Spring now. I also got my transcript evaluated by Juan (??) and he said due to my low gpa from Loyola, it is going to be harder for me to get in. Which is a major bummer because this is the only program I want to go to. Now I have to work even harder to get into Resu. Juan said that getting recommendations and writing a second statement would help. I don't know how much that is going to help me though. I;m pretty much on the waiting list now and they are going to re-evaluate my application. He told me that once per year a group of committee gets together and re-evaluate all the applications that are missing one of the three criteria for acceptance, and decide which applicant is worthy of acceptance. HOWEVER, they only do this after everyone else is accepted and if there are still spots open. Since they are receiving more applications, they might not even do this. I am really bummed out about this but I'm still going to try to get in. Congrats to everyone who got accepted and good luck with the fall semester!!

With the school's GPA minimum of 2.75 you should be able to pull your gpa up with a few more classes, right?

Tdang keep your head up and stay confident!!! I hope they let you in for the spring, turn in everything he suggested and you never know because Juan is great guy and does his best to assure your acceptance chances.. Good luck and I wish the best to you for Resu!!!

Tdang, First of all congrats for taking and passing the TEAS !!! Spring is a very good Option. if I were you I would try to talk to Juan Miranda ( he is a great guy !) and ask him what you can do from your side to be more competitive in terms of admission selections. Maybe you have to take some classes and get A's , may be you may retake the TEAS to improve your weakest areas... ask him and go from there. Remember, you are the one who can help yourself to let things happen...stay focus and optimistic !!!! Good Luck !

Hey all!

I just graduated from Res and I am willing to sell my books for a discount if anyone is interested. I have the book for Peds, Community, Leadership, the Health Assessment lab manual workbook (not the textbook), the APA book, and Health Promotion throughout the life span.

Private message me if you're interested!

Will anyone here be at the orientation tomorrow?

Does anyone know when the books are going to be available for purchase for this fall?

For the people who were PM'ing me about the titles of the books I have, I will just post here so everyone can see:

1. Wong's Essentials of Pediatric Nursing 8th edition

2. Health Promotion Strategies Through the Life Span 8th edition

3. Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 6th edition

4. Community-Based Nursing An introduction 3rd edition

5. Mosby's Dictionary of Medicine, nursing, and health professions

6. Leadership Roles and management functions in Nursing Theory and Application 6th edition

7. Jarvis Physical Examination and Health Assessment LAB MANUAL

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone on here is interested in or knows someone who is interested in switching from the daytime program to the evening/weekend program. I had some issues with the enrollment form and by the time I submitted it the daytime program was full. :( I really wanted to start the daytime program but am currently enrolled in the evening/weekend program so if anyone wants to switch I would be more than glad to! Please let me know!

Thank you.

Hello Future Nurses!

I am new to the site. I have been accepted to Resu Nursing program for Fall 2012. I chose the evening/weekend option because I work mornings. I heard that evening classes run from 4pm to 9pm, but I have also read that its 5pm to 9pm. So which one is it? I havent registered for my classes yet. I will start my Health quizzes this weekend, but I have few questions that I was hoping some of you can answer. Where did you guys go to order your uniforms and how do you know which ones to get? Theres's pants and skirts, and who knows what else. What is required? Also, for the immunizations, how do you know which one you need? Anything you guys can tell me would help alot. Thank you all, and congratulations!
