That's correct no paid work experience. I work as a Pharmacy technician now and worked through school. Would you replace the objective with something else?

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Why not put your pharmacy tech experience especially if you have had the job for a while ?

Why not put your pharmacy tech experience especially if you have had the job for a while ?

I guess I didn't think it was relevant enough to put on there. :p And I've been working there for over a year.

Specializes in Pediatrics/Developmental Pediatrics/Research/psych.

I put any work experience I have on my resume, and use it as a way to highlight relevant skills. For example, a clerical job can show organization, time management, customer service ...

Also, you can put a Summary of Qualifications at the top

Alright, I will add the work experience in there. Thanks!

As far as previous employment: You don't want to go back further than 5 years unless it is relevant to the position you are currently applying for OR if it is to show longevity.

Specializes in PICU.

I don't necessarily agree with this statement. I go back 13 years on my résumé although I've only been a nurse for 4 years. My prior career has absolutely nothing to do with nursing but it shows a certain level of professionalism and critical thinking that translates to nursing. It has helped me get both of my nursing positions. I think pharmacy tech experience is a great thing to have On a new grad resume. As is other work experience like waitressing. I think there are very few jobs out there that don't have skills that can transfer to nursing and as a new grad you need all of the help you can get on your résumé.

I agree with removing the objectives. I'd also remove the relevant course section and instead expand on your clinical experiences. The courses are very standardized but clinical experience is not. I would list some information about what you did during each clinical. For example:

USA Healthcare

- Managed care of 2 patients with my preceptor. Performed all vital signs, baths and linen changes independently. Placed IV, assisted with Foley catheter insertion and administered scheduled medications with instructor supervision.

That way they know you didn't just hide in the break room all day:). Good luck with your job search!

You just don't need to list every employer you've ever had. But you should include employers for the last 5 years. When you say 13 years, were you at the same job that whole time? How many jobs was it?

Specializes in PICU.

It was 2 jobs and I list them under a separate category. I only list significant employment on my résumé and then list all of my jobs if they require that as part of the online application process. But even then I don't go farther back than my first full-time position. I had one application request every job I've ever held regardless of how long ago it was. They required the address, phone number and supervisor's name. There was no way I was going to list all of that. I certainly don't remember nor can I find all if that information going back to when I started working at 14.

Okay so I updated my resume again, how is it now?:
