Results sooner than two days?

Published

My classmate took the NCLEX-RN today and is FREAKING OUT!! LOL The computer shut her off at 75 questions. She wants to start calling Pearson's Quick results 900# but I talked her down from that. I told her to relax and call on Thursday. (I can laugh at her and offer this advice because I havent taken it yet! I'm sure I'll change my tune when its my turn!)

Anyway, now that she has taken my advice I want to make sure its accurate! Did anyone find out sooner than 2 business days?

TIA!

Once you pass the exam, you would still have to wait to get the license number before getting hired, right?

It depends on the hospital and the state. In my state, we are issued temporary RN licenses after graduation that are good for 90 days. Many hospitals hire new grads on those permits and then wait for them to pass their boards.

Does the BON website post people who did not pass the NCLEX??

I think it depends on the state. I don't know of any state that will post something that indicates you failed your exam; however, some states issue new grads temporary RN licenses. In my state, you are issued a temporary license that is good for 90 days. If someone fails their NCLEX, their permit is immediately taken away, thus you can tell if someone did not pass their boards because their temporary license will be listed as "Lapsed/Expired" and they will not have any permanent RN license listed.

The wait is the worst part.

I know about the temp permit. I do not have one. My question was probably misunderstood. After I pass my boards can I walk into a facility and start working before getting my license number? Or will they say no because I need a license?

How about the ncbon website? Are they pretty fast with posting new licensure numbers?

Your employer should be able to verify online your license. In fact I think most do these days
