Can I fail on their initial assessment? the only thing I know is to have an assessment on the college of nursing or to take up some subjects. If i'm going to take up some schooling, how how long will it take? Is it the same subject as in the bachelor of nursing? if not What school offers it? thank you!:nuke:

457 Visa usually takes around 6-12 weeks. Depending on your case, the duration can be shorter or longer.

Skilled migration takes a lot longer though.

Thanks Aelith.. Thus, as i understand it, after finishing my CAP in Australia, i will wait for @ 2 weeks for the result of my assessment/registration. If i pass and become an RN, then i would have to wait for another 6-12 weeks in Australia for my working/457 visa..

Whew!! In this case, i should have enough money for living expenses in the 6-12 weeks waiting time in Australia; or better yet get out of Australia and just wait for the working visa in my home country.

I can't say that the registration process will be that fast but I would suggest allotting more time just to be sure should you encounter any problems with the registration process.

If you still hold a valid visa while your registration is being processed as well as your 457 visa then it will be okay for you to stay in the country until the process is done. :) If you want to go back to Philippines and wait there, it will be okay too as long as your future employer will process your visa afterwards. Having at least 1 year experience is good too as most employers require experience.

Hope that helps. ;)

hi,

normally we will be given a student visa with an expiry of around 30 days from the last day of the CAP. hence, we should apply/process the necessary working visa prior the expiry.. as i understand a student cannot anymore work (without working visa) after his last school day or completion day.. nway, on the 30th day the student visa will expire while the working visa is still on process, DIAC will give us "bridging visa" but from thereon till the issuance of working visa, we are not allowed to work anymore.. thus, either we should have "pocket money" while waiting for the working visa or just go home in the meantime while waiting.. it's indeed a long process as what you keep on warning us all this time.. things to ponder indeed..

Yes, for a short stay student visa (less than 10 months) the visa will usually expire after 30 days after the completion of the course. If you were able to lodge it before your student visa expires, you will be given a bridging visa. However, it is in my understanding that the bridging visa has full working rights - I was told the same thing by the migration agent I have contacted. You can double check too with another migration agent.

yes you can failmif you are not at the standards of the nursing here.overseas trained nurses needs to undergo a 7 week course to introduce them the australian way of nursing. the college of nursing at burwood offers that program for overseas nurses

Hi! Do you know anyone who took up their bridging course at the college of nursing? I would like to ask more about the course so that I can better prepare for it.

Thanks!
