Can I fail on their initial assessment? the only thing I know is to have an assessment on the college of nursing or to take up some subjects. If i'm going to take up some schooling, how how long will it take? Is it the same subject as in the bachelor of nursing? if not What school offers it? thank you!:nuke:

yes you can failmif you are not at the standards of the nursing here.overseas trained nurses needs to undergo a 7 week course to introduce them the australian way of nursing. the college of nursing at burwood offers that program for overseas nurses

7 weeks total.. 3 weeks at burwood college of nursing here in sydney. and 4 weeks hospital placement.. you need to pay for your own tuition fee which at the moment would cost you A$7000.00 . you need to consider also your board and lodging, airfare, visa fees,insurance,etc..

hi there! I just want to know some details.. What visa will be required for this kind? how many months will the visa allow us to stay in australia?

I have relatives in NSW and they are citizens there for so many years now? In which way can they help me?

Will I be allowed to work while taking the 7 week course?

after completing the course, will I be allowed to work right away?

How about your process?can you please share with us the process that you went through so it can serve as a guide to us!!!

I hope you can extend your generosity and patience to help nurses like us who also longs to got to australia!!

Your relatives can sponsor you for a visa; either a visit visa or skilled migration. Skilled migration would need you to have a registration first and have your credentials assessed by the ANMC. You will also have to pass the points required for the skilled migration which requires working experience.

You can be allowed to work during the 7-weeks course if you have a student visa as they have permission to work.

Upon successful completion of the course, you have to wait for your registration to be finished. Only then you can work as a registered nurse there. You can still work (jobs which does not require you to have a registration) if the visa that permits you to work is still in effect. After the registration, you can try to find an employer to sponsor you under 457 visa. Or you can try applying for Skilled sponsored visa, however you need to pass the points required. You can find more information regarding the visas on the Immigration website of Australia.

Hi Aelith,

Just would like to ask, assuming you already passed the CAP and registered as a nurse, then found an employer who will sponor you, how long will it take for the processing of your working visa? From the time you filed, do you wait 2 weeks or 4 weeks?

Hope you or anyone could help. Thank you.

457 Visa usually takes around 6-12 weeks. Depending on your case, the duration can be shorter or longer.

Skilled migration takes a lot longer though.
