ok, here is my deal. i was supposed to take my nclex tomorrow and i woke up this morning feeling not as prepared as i would like to be, so i rescheduled it for october 20th.. ya know, to give me plenty of time to "master" my weak areas(one of them being drugs). well, now.. alot of my family is giving me **** about it!!! out of my family, the only people who supported my decision were my husband and my aunt. heck, i even had one of my other aunts accused me of not wanting to become a nurse and move on with the next chapter of my life....... i replied to her "oh yeah, like i spent 3 years in nursing school working my butt off, and was able to make it thru at the same time battling my father having a stroke, losing my house, going thru crap with adult protective services...as well as trying to keep my marriage together.... yeah, i dont want to sit for boards because i dont want to be a nurse". haha, i laughed in her face and called her a *****!!!!! but that isnt beside the point. it just irritates me that this is my future, not theirs and they are telling me that i am making a bad choice in deciding to put off taking it a few more weeks.... just makes me want to scream:flmngmd::angthts::angryfire

that is what my hubby says.... who cares what they think(of course what he said was x-rated lol)

good luck jabwemet!!!:heartbeat i will keep ya posted on how i do. i will get my results on my birthday(22nd), so it will either be a very good birthday or a crappy one lol.:chuckle

There is only one entity who would ever be entitled to criticize you for rescheduling the NCLEX. If an employer had placed you in one of those special positions, like a nurse intern, at a higher rate of pay, in anticipation of you passing the boards; they, have a right to criticize you for not taking the boards as scheduled. If they were to demote you or even dismiss you for not meeting the agreement, then you would have a hard time arguing with them. No one else has any right for criticizing your choice to wait until you feel that you are as ready as you can be. Don't let the naysayers upset you. And good luck.

i hear that!

i waited a month or two longer to take the nclex than some family members officiously advised for my own good and was no less annoyed by this either. of course, no one is second guessing anything i did now that i passed the exam the first time i sat.

my feeling was that anyone who thinks that it's the end of the world that, in the grand scheme of things, i'll be an rn merely four weeks later than expected probably needs to get a grip. of course, it sounds like at least your aunt is afraid that you'll wind up never doing it and i think some of the same fears motivated my family's pressure. i figure that if they aren't convinced by now, after several years and successful completion of nursing school, that i am for real about this, then that's their problem, not mine.

well, as for being demoted because of an internship, i dont have to worry about that... cuz i am not interning anywhere yet. but my one aunt is a very cold hearted, very opinionated person who likes to demeanor people.i dont know if that makes sense. lol.. haha, she gives my husband a hard time because he is 29 years old and hasnt completed college yet(by choice, he decided to let me get my career going before achieving his.. even though he is a real estate broker lol) and yet she just has a high school diploma. also, when i got married(i married young at 19).. she said "oh, the only reason jackie got married was because she is pregnant" lol.. wow, i have been married for over 7 years now.. i must be really really overdue!!!!! :chuckle and her kids both had children out of wedlock... which i am not judgmental to people who have, i understand how life is. but she is very critical of others when she should be looking at her own children. not to be mean or anything, i love my cousins, dont get me wrong. haha.. i managed to turn a venting thread about nclex to a venting thread about family members!! :loveya:

froggyfreak - your auntie sounds like a piece of work. why do you listen to her?
