Nursing Students General Students

Hi to all,

I am requesting to all Nursing students, Pre-Nursing students and also students who joined in the past 1-2 years in Nursing Programs.

There are wide range of people - Novice, experienced doing nursing education at various levels. Most of the Associate Degree i saw are for people with LPN or people who have high school degree and CNA and also with Nursing Assistant Experience. It takes almost 2.5 - 3 years to complete Associate Degree in Nursing including Pre-requisites.

After doing research at various web sites, I want to know some colleges or universities that offers for Associate Degree in Nursing which can be done 12-18 months  for People who have already completed Bachelor degree and left with some Pre-requisites.

Are there any colleges or Universities which offer Accelerated Associated Degree in Nursing for people who already completed BS and MS and have some hospital experiece.

I appreciate if you can let me know whose colleges, it would be of great place. I am willing to relocate to any city to complete the associate degree. I had spend almost 5 years completing MS in Microbiology and I do not want to spend long years to complete Associate degree in Nursing.

Any feedback is deeply appreciated.

Waiting for a Positive Response.

Thanks

In as far as I know, there is no such thing. An accelerated BSN can be completed in 12-18 months with a prior bachelor's degree.

I have a previous bachelors, and I have taken all required prereqs (I'm completing my last one, Micro, now). At a local community college, it would have taken me 18 months to complete an ADN, because of the sequence of the clinical classes. I loaded up my schedule on paper with as many clinicals as were offered at once (and with the ones I could take in the prescribed order), and I had an entire semester where there were no classes I could take because I had to wait for a particular class to be offered the next fall (the only time this course was offered is in the fall, and I could not take it until I took the required prerequisite nursing courses). So I would have had an entire spring semester where there would have been no classes for me to take.

I think it would be difficult to find an ADN that you could complete in too short of a time. The best advice is to CALL SCHOOLS you're interested in - go to allnursingschools.com and find ADN programs. Pull up the school websites, look at their prereqs, and then look at their course schedules and at their online catalogs.

And good luck!

Check out Duquesne University in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It does have a bridge program and was the first nursing school in Pennsylvania. I am currently in the MSN/ PhD program - all online and LOVE IT!

Brookhaven College, part of the DallasCCCD has an associate program that is a 16-month program.

I don't know what area you are from, but there are Diploma nursing programs which will give you the equivalent education of the ADN. Here in Connecticut, for instance, there is Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, which allows you to take non nursing courses at other schools. The accelerated option allows you to complete the diploma in 16 months. Check your area hospitals for similar programs.

I know that this is not addressing your initial question, however, the ADN program that I am in has clinicals over 18 months. I have all science and support courses finished, so now that I am accepted I will only have 18 months until I am an RN. (assuming passing the boards:)

In Virginia ECPI has a 15month ADN Program. I don't know if they do that everywhere, but you can check it out.

Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland OH has an accerlerated ADN program. All prerequisites must be completed prior to applying to the program. They only start in the summer and they end the next summer, so its only 12 months. Classes meet every 8 weeks.Sciences can't be more than 7 years old. If you apply early enough at least 2 semsters before the summer then you have a good chance of getting in.
