Repeats when Applying for NOVA Nursing program

Hi girls/guys. This is for those that have applied and gotten accepted into the NOVA Nursing programs (fort myers & ft lauderdale.)

Did any of you have any repeats in the sciences? I saw on the website that they absolutely accept no repeats in ANY courses. Yet, i've READ about a few on here that HAVE repeats in the sciences. What is the deal? If you have please tell me which courses. thnxs! And any advice on what i can do.. I have an Instructor withdrawal on my Anatomy I first term in college 4 years ago. And it's bitting me in the ***! HELP :(

Hey FLJosie, i just got accepted into the Fall 2010 program @ Davie and i had one withdrawal from Anatomy back in 2003 and then about 3 W's in math but all in different times never in one given semester or back to back... However, all of my sciences were up to par. I am not sure what system NSU is going on but i know others who have had some "hiccups" and still made it in, i really think that they look at your overall gpa and then ur science gpa, and your essay is like your backup.... if you did well on all the other classes then i dont see why you wouldnt be considered or atleast looked at. I never failed a class or repeated because of a bad grade i just had a W on my transcript... so i am not sure if thats a difference or not. Since your class was from a long time ago i dont think it would be held against you... because look at me... they are getting harder and harder to get in due to the influx of applicants, and also they have taken out their interview process, so its all based on grades and essay.... stay positive because anything can happen trust me... if you need anymore help just let me know... good luck and best wishes

Hey thank you so much for replying! I've been stressing this because it only leaves me with one option MDC. I'm currently and lpn and I qualify for their transitional. But my goal was for NOVA! What was your gpa if you don't mind me asking? And the lowest they accepted for the fall. I went to their open house last month and it made me want NOVA even more. I'm actually looking into applying for the fort myers campus! So I will surely apply for both NOVA and MDC! And make sure my essay impresses them! Any advice or comments would def be appreciated!

Hello Jerziana29, I am so nervous, I haven't heard anything from NOVA yet, I submitted my application and haven't heard an answer yet.. did you get a reply in the mail or email? I have all A's and 2 B's in my sciences and I have a bachelor's in an unrelated area... did you have to take the TEAS test? I didn't but I read someone post about having taken that test for NOVA...thanks!

Hello guys well josie my gpa was a 3.3 cumulative and my sciences was a 3.5. They look at both. Also the lowest that I have heard that they accepted was a 2.8 and that person had a bachelors degree in another field. I am not sure what system Noca is using they seem to be all over the place. I would stay positive and be confident! I would suggest you be in top of Noca since they recently made changes keep calling and the same goes for you schnauzer. Keep on being on top of them they start to become proactive once they know you are. I know you must be all over the place with emotions, remain calm everything will come at it's time. I found out by a phone call then the next morning they sent an email then I waited about a week for my packet to get here. Since I wanted to apply for the baptist scholars I hounded them and they sent me an email of that packet so I can be considered for the scholarship. Stay tough and patience my friend is what will get you through this. Don't hesitate to ask me anything. Also orientation starts August 30th hopefully you can join us in our road to sacrifice!!! Hang in there!

Hey Jerziana29! Congrats on getting in! I know you are about to start not in a few days! How exciting!!! I applied for Jan 2011 and am still waiting on a response! I have a 3.23 overall and in pre-reqs I have a 3.55! Do you think I have a good chance? Also, how long did it take you to hear anything from them? Did you get accepted to the Baptist Program? I hear they just took it out because Baptist does not need anymore nurses! Please let me know!

Hey Jennifer, i think you have a very good chance of getting in.... it took me about 6 months before knowing if i was accepted or not but thats not going to happen with you, i had to wait until the deadline to know especially that our fall class had a huge intake of applications we had over 2,000 apply i think and only 150 get chosen... so imagine, and Nova is all over the place... i had a 3.35 and my sciences was a 3.5 with one repeat in anatomy but it was a W......in 2003 so i am guessing they overlooked it... also they didnt take away the baptist scholars what they did was only have it once a year instead of giving it to Nova for the fall and january they have it taken it away for the january term and only give it out to the Fall term students. They have also taken away some schools from their program... since they is an over abundance of nurses and they nowhere to place them so they are cutting down big time and making the process harder for those who want to get in.... pretty much at this point once you get in you were picked because you have what it takes or u were the best of the selection... for instance in my orientation for the scholars they were like you were looked at more than 3 times or 5 times before getting chosen... you are the best of the best from your group... we were all astonished... so they are really nit picking... but i think you will be fine. There has been some students already accepted into the january term.... so be on top of them!!!! Hope this info helped and if you need anything let me know.. :nurse:

Wow thanks for the reply! I am hoping to hear from them soon. I am so nervous because I have one bad grade in math but I am retaking it now in the fall. Hopefully they dont take that that too serious and overlook it! Anyways good luck! Btw, what campus are you going to? I applied to the kendall. Do you know how many students they take? Jennifer, I got accepted into the Kendall campus I'm not sure how many they accept at that campus but I know it's not a lot. I know that a lot of us didn't even choose the Kendall campus they picked it for us. I think they do it by address. But since I'm in the scholars program I'm not sure if that played a role but a friend of mine us in the Kendall campus but not the scholars so I'm not too sure how they are basing it on. Also I had many repeats in math but math is not a requirement for them so you should be fine. Also ig you're accepted to the Kendall campus you still have to go to Davie for your anatomy class since it's a cadaver class. Hope this info helped! One more week for me lol ahhhhhh goodluck!!

Oh okay... well I applied to the kendall campus although I dont think that was a smart idea now since it is probably limited. How do you get into the scholars program? Thankss!

I feel just as scared and anxious as you ... I applied to the January program 2011 and havent herd anything =/ it really sucks waiting around and not doing anything.. I mean I really want to go to Nova and I would love to start in January ... when do you apply?

Hey Boo13812002! I actually just recently applied about a week ago! I am so anxious and nervous! I keep checking my VIP page and am so glad I came across this website! Ive learned so much and am so grateful to those who have replied and even asked me questions! What was your gpa? Also, when did you apply and to what campus? Let me know : )
