Repeating classes. Denied getting in?

Published

How many have experienced getting denied into the nursing program due to repeating the pre reqs? I have been seeing it can happen, but is it common? I have letters of recommendations from my last schools program manager and several instructors, will this help?

Its not grades. Its withdraws.

At the school where I taught, if you withdrew with a failing grade, it was considered a failed class.

I withdrew before the grade counted against me in any way. It just shows W not actual grade.

That's a little bit of luck. Some schools show W(P) or W(F).

I've researched schools that have "first attempts only" for science pre-reqs, so I'm assuming withdraws count as an attempt. I doubt they would budge due to you having letters of recommendations but it never hurts to try. It comes down to the program that you are applying to.

Where do you find the info about that on the sites you've seen? I can't seem to find anything anywhere about that stuff.

The info is in various places such as the course catalogs or in the individual academic program descriptions. It may not be on a website. Sometimes the registrar's office may be able to guide you but it is best to contact each program about this.

Here is a sample, I just googled UT Austin:

Repetition of a Course

If a student repeats a course and has two or more grades, all grades and all semester hours are used to calculate the University grade point average and to determine the student's scholastic eligibility to remain in school. The official grade in a course is the last one assigned.

A student enrolled in any of the following colleges and schools may not repeat for credit a course in which he or she has earned a grade of C- or better: the McCombs School of Business, the College of Communication, the Cockrell School of Engineering, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Natural Sciences, the School of Nursing, and the College of Pharmacy.

I'm going to try to contact them again tomorrow, I don't believe its listed or maybe they just don't have a policy against it. I don't see anything outlined about it. I'll just cross my fingers it doesn't count horrible against me..

Whew repeating doesn't natter, it's only the most recent grade that does. thank gosh.
