Wow, I can't believe you were fired for this! I would think at least a warning could have been given.
I use a clipboard at work. I keep the worksheet on it and keep the board at work. I was always worried in the past that I would have an auto accident and the worksheet could be exposed to others.
That is just crazy that you were fired over that! I always bring my worksheets home. I keep them for about a year in a file deep in my filing cabinet in case there would be some legal problem arise. (I think a fellow nurse suggested I keep them for that reason when I started my career 10 years ago.) I take a few months worth in to the hospital occasionally to be shredded. I can't imagine not taking them home even for the small reason of there being a question about the patient from subsequent shifts.
They never said anything to us about it one way or the other. I do shred mine, but sometime bring them home in my pocket without thnking about it. So sorry about losing the job Renerian. Is this the same hospital that the head nurse thread was about? If so I'm wondering if they were just looking for anything to humiliate you for not taking that job.

Do you take home your worksheet with information on it from your shift in case someone has questions or you forget to chart something you have your facts with you? The hospital I used to work for told us to do this. I was fired from my new job for doing this after being on the floor for two days! They said I breached confidentiality.
I wanted to do this as a poll but I did not get the prompts to fill in so I do not know how to do it LOL.
I thought I would move this topic to general discussion but I do not know how to move a thread either LOL.
