Removing needle from syringe

Hello everyone:

I'm a Nursing Student and was wondering if anyone had a needle stick after being exposed to a known HIV+ patient.

What are the chances of one being infected after such exposure. I know it's part of the job but have been stressing over this for quite some time.

It was sarcasm hence the

My point was, would I get some real answers regarding transmission had I written that since the beginning?

I'm saying this because the entire topic has gone from discussing potential exposure risks w/ known HIV+ needles to behavioral patterns after being stuck w/ known HIV+ needles.

If you had been honest you might have gotten the answers you wanted. You've changed your story too many times, and it's sounding more and more like an assignment rather than an actual occurence.

but you can get plenty of real answers regarding transmission on plenty of sites, cdc, who, just to name a couple. they have well documented stats.

[color=#483d8b]and yes if you post the vague info that you have, people are going to question the behaviors of your "friend".

[color=#483d8b]see, nurses like things to make sense, and your posts are not. really you may want to use this as a learning experience. be upfront and give as much info from the beginning. listen to what people are trying to tell/ask of you and respond to questions, it may help you find some answers!

Actually, he did report it. The incidentt was investigated. They told him that the needle had HIV+ blood and that chances of transmission were likely. He tested that day, result came back negative. He has to go back at the 6 week mark and another at the 13 week mark.

Can we get back on topic regarding transmission risks?

So you're saying that there was a used needle was taped to a door handle of a public building -- placed there to harm & infect others? You're saying that this situation was discovered, investigated, and the needle was found to to have HIV+ blood on it. There is, coincidentally, no news coverage of this criminal, highly unusual event.

OK ...

Sorry - I'm calling this the way I see it. In this aggressively moderated board, it is a shame that this thread of such blatant BS has progressed this far.
