Remington college of nursing summer absn program 2015

Published

Hello! Just trying to get connected with anyone who has or will be applying to the summer 2015 accelerated bsn program at Remington College in Lake Mary. I just sent out my application yesterday! Anyone else on here who has applied heard anything yet? :)

Hey everyone! I have finally created a Facebook group for our cohort! If anyone is interested in joining, the name is just "Remington College of Nursing July 2015." Let me know if you have any problems!

depending on your individual application (status of prerequisites as well as all necessary paperwork) you should be hearing back within 2 weeks from admissions. if you ever have any questions you can always email Melissa nash the admissions coordinator and she will be better equipped to tell you the exact status of your application. I doubt it will take longer than two weeks since orientation is July 9/10. good luck and best wishes!

If anyone is having trouble finding the Facebook group, feel free to add me (Ashlee Harris from PA) and I will make sure to add you into the group!

Has anyone had any luck getting loans? I have tried Sallie Mae, Wells Fargo and Discover and been denied for all. My credit is almost 700 but not quite and I just don't have much history. I'm not even requesting close to the full amount in tuition either. Any recommendations? I suppose I just need to find a credit worthy cosigner.

hi mary, unfortunately with private student loans it gets tricky since the risk the bank is taking is very high. it's very difficult to be approved with even an excellent credit history without a cosigner and even then you are hit with high interest rates than that of a borrower with a credit worthy cosigner. sallie mae is more forgiving than wells fargo or discover in terms of credit if you apply with a credit worthy cosigner; however they have been known to give very high rates. I myself had applied for sallie mae and although I was credit approved on my own (750 fico score with a heavy credit load), my interest rate options that they gave me were 8.75% fixed (it can go as high as 12%) with deferred payments while in school or 5.75% variable (no limit on how high the rate can climb to) again with differed payments while in school. I would suggest trying to reapply with a cosigner and see how it works for you although you might end up with an overall high interest rate it might be your only option (like mine) if you don't have any funds saved up for school

Thank you so much for the response marinanova. I'm going to try a couple of cosigners I had saved as last resort and will go with Sallie Mae now knowing they are more forgiving. Trying desperately to pull this together haha. I hope that Nurse Corps will come through for us in the long run! I called last week and they told me they are going to start emailing decisions soon.

Mary - I also suggest Sallie Mae! That's who I ended up with & with a cosigner it makes the whole process a lot easier and the interest rates are much less! I also like that your cosigner is released after just a year of on time payments (where a lot of the other loans I looked at were 48+ months before your cosigner could be released!) I hope it all works out! Let me know if you have any questions.

How is everyone's house hunt going? I'm hoping that we all live pretty close to each other so we can set up a carpool for clinicals and everything! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone :)

Hey what's your email? I couldn't find you. I found like 7 Ashlee Harris but none from PA. My email is [email protected]

I got some great news on Friday. I received my provisional acceptance for the July cohort. Phone interview tuesday. Can anyone tell me what the packet contains that Melissa told me I would be receiving? Thanks!

Hi, I am interested in the program...can anyone give me some feed back on how the program is going for them?

Oh that's great! I've been trolling these boards for a while now I get a feel that as far as the TEAS goes as long as you score above their required score it isn't such a big deal. I prepared by buying a practice guide a couple of weeks before the test (I believe it was the Barron's book) with a whole bunch of practice tests in it. I found it to be good because the questions in the book seemed to be much harder than the ones on the test so I felt prepared! I think it's just a matter of repetition and figuring out what they're looking for as far as question types. I know my biggest struggle was the math because it's super basic math but stuff we haven't learned in a long time so I watched some youtube videos on doing the basics like dividing fractions and percentages just to get a refresher.

hi, can you please sell your book that help you study for the teas?

Hello! I am looking to apply to the January 2017 cohort and was wondering how the program is now since ECPI bought out Remington. I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks!
