thank you,

Startingoveragain, Remington will not be making acceptance decisions until after the April application deadline, they told me. Or, do you mean TEAS scores of current Remington students?
current... i want to know what a competitive TEAS score is, in a sense. also, did you apply? what did you score? (if you do not mind me asking...
Hi everybody! I've red this whole thread too and am applying for the July Cohort. I'm applying to Remington because it fits perfectly into my timeframe for school, but I'm from out of state and don't know anything about it except for what I have found on their website and this one. I haven't been able to find any ratings or rankings for Remington College of Nursing and am kind of concerned with its legitimacy because of its affiliating with the Remington technical school franchise. Is it a respectable school? Thanks!
Hi, I just mailed my application for the upcoming july 2011 class but I still have to do the fingerprint and take the TEAS exam. I'm also from out of state I will need to find an affordable apartment somewhere near the school.
You will have orientation about 2 weeks before your actual classes start. A lot of people from my class found roommates at orientation, if that's what you're looking for. I was also from out of state, and it was overwelming trying to find a place to live. Feel free to message me if you need any help or recommendations. There are a lot of nice places near school that are affordable.

Remington is a fairly new school, with only about 4-5 classes who have graduated so far. There's probably not going to be a whole lot of ratings or rankings for them. I started in January 2011, and believe me it's the real deal. It's a TOUGH program, but you'll learn a lot. It's accreditated, and I think their NCLEX pass rate is 97%. Let me know if you have any questions about the program from the student's point of view. We're almost done with our first quarter (THANK GOD!) so should be able to give you a lot of feedback.
Good luck on applying!
That's reassuring to hear, Flimfly. Thanks for sharing your experience thus far! I've been looking for any posts by Remington grads in order to find out if there is any truth to reviews I read which state Remington CON will not authorize students to sit for the NCLEX without first passing HESI beforehand with a score of at least 900. I ask during my interview if this is accurate; In the meantime, it would be great to hear from any recent/new RCON grads on this. Anyone?

It's true. You cannot graduate or sit for the NCLEX unless you pass the HESI. I believe the score needed to pass is 850 but it could have changed to 900. However, most nursing schools require this, not just Remington. In fact, I would be a little concerned if a school didn't make you take the HESI first. Don't be alarmed, though. You will be fully prepared to take the HESI which in turn prepares you for the NCLEX. You will have to take a subject HESI for most of your classes in each quarter. It is factored into your grade but will also give you an idea as to what your strengths and weaknesses are so that you will know what you need to focus more on. At the end of your 4th quarter, you will take the final HESI (the one you need to pass before taking the NCLEX). You get 3 tries to take it. I don't believe anyone has ever needed to take it more than 3 times. Don't let something like the HESI hold you back from going. I mean...if you can't pass the HESI then you're probably not going to pass the NCLEX anyways. But you will, so don't worry =]
Sounds fair and reasonable to me! I think ithose HESI "checkpoints" help students keep up/stay current and gauge progress... I'll bet the reviews I read were from crammers who just didn't keep up.. At least one wrote that he/she failed it three times and never got to sit for the NCLEX, blaming Remington for allegedly not wanting to pass students who they didn't feel could pass the NCLEX.. I'm thinking now, "Yeah? And your point is??" because I do not think that's such a bad thing--especially for the sake of patient safety. I've learned to study until the material is second-nature so I am not stressed-out! So, I'll not worry about such posts anymore. Thanks for putting my mind (and likely others') at ease, Flimfly! :)
