Remington College of Nursing January 2015 ABSN

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am starting the post for anyone applying to Remington College of Nursing for the 2nd Degree Accelerated Bachelors of Nursing program in Lake Mary Florida. If you currently or previously attended RCON will join is as well.

Hi Campse- i am moving from Philadelphia to the lake mary area for this program. Are there any locations i should avoid when looking for a place to live?

Avoid pine hills completely. It's not super close anyway but it's cheap and not very safe. There are also certain areas in sanford I'd be iffy about. But the Lake Mary area itself is very nice. Surrounding areas like Longwood, Casselberry, Heathrow, and Oviedo have nice, safe apartments and houses as well.

Is anyone else looking for roommates? One bedroom apartments in the area are kinda expensive and I just finished undergrad in May so I'm looking to pay under 600 a month for rent... I currently live in NC. I'm hoping to move in before orientation. If you're interested in linking up, message me on facebook

Thanks for sharing your stats! I think I'm going to give it a shot in August. Good luck to those of you starting in January!! :) I've lived in the area for awhile and most of Lake Mary is well kept and nice. There are areas of Sanford that I would recommend staying away from. You'll be able to tell upon a quick visit ;) Students looking for housing may find options over by UCF (not too far of a commute) and more affordable on a student budget. I believe they have several places that rent out rooms within an apartment? Not entirely sure. Best of luck - can't wait to hear how things are going for you once you're full swing into things!

Hey does anyone remember what the interview questions were?

I'am applying for the January start program. I know I am late but i still have until Dec 1 deadline and I have all of my materials ready. Just have to send everything out.

I know I am late but I just want to prepare myself ahead of time incase i get an interview. So if anyone can remember the questions please post them.

I went through the other posts and i saw a few questions that someone remembered, did everyone have the same questions?

Thank you.

Yes. I had the same questions as posted in my interview. It was fairly simple and informal. Basically just a conversation answering questions about yourself and your goals. At the end they ask for questions that you may have.

Good luck!

Oh Okay thank you Campse!!!!

did you apply for the priority decision? I sent in my application today and I am worried as to when i will hear back from them. I live in NJ so i would need enough time to prepare myself for the move and looking for apartments!!

BTW what was your TEAS score everyone? I have a 75 and i am contemplating wether or not i should retake it for a higher score. Im really confused =/

I was accepted early admission and my overall GPA was only a 2.7. My science GPA was higher with a 3.2, and I got an 84 on my TEAS. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, and I have worked as a CNA for 3 years. I switched my major about halfway through my undergrad so some of the classes I needed for one major obviously affected my overall GPA, even though I no longer needed them for my Biology major. Don't be too discouraged when applying to Remington if you don't feel your TEAS or GPA is up to par. I had great references, and I felt that I conveyed my desire to become a nurse very well in my personal statement. It seems as though Remington does not place weight on a specific area of the application, but rather the application as a whole instead. :)

I am in the process of completing my financial aid and I want to forewarn everyone that they will only be allowed to borrow up to $16,000 for living expenses :banghead: This means that it is necessary to have funds from other sources - savings etc for the entire year for rent, food gas etc. The Lake Mary area is not cheap at all. Luckily I have been saving up to go to Remington.

Thanks for the heads up. Did you apply with FAFSA? I've never applied before so I'm not sure how it's all going to work.

I did. This was part of my enrollment package

  1. The maximum you may qualify for in Federal Aid for this program is approximately $18,548 (net) inStafford loans. The difference between that amount and the tuition for this program ($42,000) isapproximately $23,452 (your GAP), which can be covered by alternative means, i.e., private loans, savings, scholarships, or cash payments to the campus. The amounts noted above may be different ifyou just recently completed college at another institution. If that is the case we will contact you directlyand discuss your eligibility amounts. Additionally, these amounts noted are for an Independent student(as determined by questions you answer on your FAFSA). If you are a Dependent student, please emailor call us for additional information as your amounts will differ. "

See everyone in January! I live in Orlando in the Metro West area near Ocoee. For those of you moving here, it's about a 20-25 minute drive and a nice area. Rent prices in this area are lower than Lake Mary. I am so EXCITED!!!
