Hello,
I am looking to relocate to Southern California from Indiana in either June or July. I have 3 years experience in critical care nursing. I was wondering when and where should I start applying? Is it to early to begin applying now?

Due to the job market, it would not be a bad idea to start applying early or come prepared for a long period of job hunting.
Thank you caliotter3!! I already started applying to Kaiser in different locations. Are there any other hospitals that I should look into? I also thought of doing travel nursing in the area.
I do not know of specific hospitals. I would obtain a list of those closest to where you will be living and then start applying to each, in turn. Also start a list of jobs from the employment websites and don't forget the Employment Dept. website. Develop your plan of attack and spread your net further out if you don't catch any fish near your new home. Good luck.

Agreed, those are all very different areas.
Kaiser is not the only game in CA, you know. But it would help if we knew where you were looking, so we can give more specific recommendations.

The Long Beach VA is always hiring experienced ICU nurses. See job posting here: https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/457259500/
Start early if you decide to apply to the VA. Federal government HR is notoriously slow in the hiring process.
Also check out the greater Los Angeles VA.
From expeirence, it's easier getting a job at the VA than it is at Kaiser.
there is a VA in San Diego, Lima Linda, Long Beach, and Los Angeles, with multiple CBOCs. So you do have choices in areas to live. And if you want to move to another state again, the VA is the largest hospital system in the United States with hospitals in every major city in the country.

I would start as soon as you can. It may be difficult to obtain a job with an ASN degree in Southern CA.
This is true. I had specialty certification which helped me get a job when I first arrived here.
But even so, I was once turned away from my current employer because I lacked the BSN, even though I had already started a bridge program. I tried again after I finished the program, and here I am.
I no longer care once the OP makes the thread and never comes back.
