I applied to two FNP programs. I have heard back from one. I was turned down. [emoji22] I was told they had three times the number of applicants to openings. I think the lady was just trying to make me feel better. The other program I applied to I don't expect to get into either. It's is extremely competitive.
Keep at it, don't let that discourage you.
FNP programs have considerably large application pools, often twice as many (or more) as AG primary or acute care applicants. I looked on nursingCAS at all the schools with applications available and started the process for whichever ones I thought would work out. I had no idea there were so many programs available, some with revolving start dates. It is discouraging to be rejected but you have to remember that it's not personal, there's only so many open seats and an over abundance of applicants. Good luck.
I applied to a local post-master's degree FNP program and I still haven't heard back yet. I was told that my application is still being reviewed because I have a special circumstance; technically, I won't have my MSN until 2 months after the FNP program starts but I was told by the department head to still apply for the program.
I was told that I would be a really good candidate (GPA of 3.9 in my current MSN program, solid GRE score, great references etc.) but the technicality might prevent me from getting the final approval. I know that waiting is really hard and it can be disappointing if you don't get approved initially. Try not to give up and remember you're not alone!
