I just had to vent because I found out today I was not selected for the student nurse job I applied for. There won't be another chance for me to apply for this because the next round of student nurse hiring will be after I (hopefully) graduate. I feel I really needed the experience I would have gotten at that job and now I won't have it - so when I graduate, I will be a brand new, inexperienced nurse trying to get hired amongst other candidates who have job experience as a student nurse. Do you think my chances to get hired as a new nurse will be "ruined" because of this?
Why did I wait so late to apply? Hit me with a wet noodle! They sent an e-mail saying I could apply again for the next round, but that will be too late for me.
There were almost twice as many applicants as job slots available and I probably didn't make the best impression because I was nervous as heck and it was my first-ever group-style interview. By the time it came to be my turn to say something, I could hardly think straight and forgot to say how awesome the chance to get the student nurse experience would be. I probably came off as having all the personality and enthusiasm of a piece of petrified wood.

This has not been a wasted experience on you because you have learned that the early bird gets the worm. I doubt you will let future opportunities go by so easily.
It is true that I learned a few things, early bird and also what a group interview can be like. But I just hope I get another opportunity to use what I learned! I guess I'll just have to go through a period of disappointment and kicking myself. I know it will pass, but it feels terrible right now.

You and possibly 50 others...Another great source of experience would be to apply for a job as a nurse's aide/patient care tech/cna. With your level of education, it may make up for the lack of having your CNA license.
